The truth of any ideology is what it does to people. While Congress scampered off for their summer break, the 99 week coverage ended with no additional support available. The hellish effects are all too obvious.
The story is of people losing their homes, their dignity, and their prospects and trying to survive. Apparently not content with simply destroying the US economy, the same great minds are apparently unwilling to address even the most basic needs of the people. The social element who’ve been getting free lunches for generations are too miserly and too incompetent to understand the basic effects of putting such a huge number of people out of work.
More effort has been put into spinning lousy numbers into an illusion of a recovery than into the simplest concepts of restarting the economy.
This is a Depression in all but name. Ideologies don’t fix Depressions. Political grandstanding and mindless toeing of the party line have never fixed anything. The sheer blatant hypocrisy of the Expedient Society is a perfect match for its stupidity and endless corruption. America is balanced on one leg, over a raging fire of problems which have never been addressed, let alone solved.
The likelihood is that like crime and failing education and health systems, the trashed generations will just become part of the landscape. From Utopia to coma apparently isn’t quite as far as the concepts seem.
