WH Accepts Simpson Apology for OWL
This whole "I never intended" Alan Simpson apology has gotten entirely out of hand: the person to whom the insult was directed still wants Simpson to resign from the Catfood Commission, while the White House, an unrelated party to the insult or the apology, accepts Simpson’s apology.

But at the White House, Jennifer Psaki, the deputy communications director, said, “Alan Simpson has apologized and while we regret and do not condone his comments, we accept his apology and he will continue to serve.”

10. Progressives need to come to grips with the obvious fact that the Cat-food Commission
was especially picked to do a specific hatchet job on social security, as is being reported, and apologists especially need to come to grips with this reality which ain't pretty: this hatchet-job is, in fact, tantamount to a large regressive tax, just the kind pubs have always championed, a classic far-to-the-right-of-center tax policy. Yours truly would proffer that any/all politicians party to its implementation would be betraying a good portion of those who have paid heavy payroll taxes for decades and thereby deserve to be sent packing when their election cycle rolls around. :P

5. Compare this to the Sherrod and Van Jones dust ups....
It's quite telling and speaks volumes to me about priorities and loyalties. Especially since the justification for the whole Sherrod thing was that her words would "call into question the impartiality" of the agency or whatever bunk excuse was given.

11. They have
but it's the left that they use it against. To them it seems to be a big thing that they 'stand up to the left wing'(whatever that is). It's no mistake that Gibbs said what he said etc, etc.

There it is, folks, everything you need to know about where this "commission" is intended to go.

O wants Simpson right where he is, knowing fully well his hostility towards Social Security and his willingness to take a hatchet to it.

We are going to be sold out again, people.

13. I voted for Hillary in the primary I had sense
Obama is not bad but he does not know how to really govern. He is so inexperienced he is letting himself be pushed and pulled in the wrong direction. They have made him think to appease the republicans is what he should do, because Democrats will vote for him anyway. He is wrong, I am sad to say. A lot of Democrats are getting more and more dis-satisfied with this administration and won't vote for republicans but they just won't show up to vote for anybody. He has got to make decisions that favor the Democrats to get this country moving in the correct direction. HE HAS JUST GOT TO. Who ever he is listening to he better kick their ass out quick or we will loose in November.

14. The thing is, Hillary is also tried and true DLC, so I don't believe
she would have been so very much different from Obama. If Dems really wanted "Change", they would have to totally disregard virtually everything put out by corporate media, and look towards a true populist like Kucinich to lead. While I wish it were possible, I don't see it happening. The anti-Liberal disinformation and slander mill of the DLC/GOP is far too strong to be beaten by the voters.

Oh? Serve whom?

:sarcasm:

I know who Simp(le)son doesn't serve and that's the people and on this issue, I think, nor does the White House.

Fuck Alan Simpson and the other Social Security demolition persons.
