Schrammie: No good deed goes unpunished in Winthrop (WA)

SEATTLE -- She's all of 12 years old and says she was just doing a good deed.

Marina Brownlee says she and her 9-year-old sister were passing out health department stickers last week, reminding people to wash their hands frequently.

Marshal Dahlstrom says he has no reason not to believe a Winthrop resident who insists the 12-year-old was actually littering.

Based on nothing more than that, the town marshal slapped the little girl with a $124 ticket.

Marina's mom says the tough talkin' marshal browbeat her daughter in an unsuccessful effort to get her to confess and that the girl was in tears after the encounter.

1. That is a despair doctrine.

I had that thought at times also. Had to overcome that, once it was identified as despair.

So have changed it to be, good deeds will be rewarded, and those that attempt to punish for such things only hurt themselves.
