Dear Rahm Emanuel,

I read this week that — according to a new book by Steven Rattner, your administration's former "Car Czar" — during White House meetings about how to save the tens of thousands of jobs that would be lost if GM and Chrysler collapsed, your response was, "Fuck the UAW!"

Now, I can't believe you actually said that. Maybe Rattner got confused because you drop a lot of F-bombs, or maybe your assistant was trying to order lunch and you said (to Rattner) "Fuck you" and then to your assistant "A&W, no fries."

Or maybe you did mean Fuck the UAW. If so, let me give you a little fucking lesson (a lesson I happen to know because my fucking uncle was in the sit-down strike that founded the fucking UAW).

Before there were unions, there was no middle class. Working people didn't get to send their kids to college, few were able to own their own fucking home, nobody could take a fucking day off for a funeral or a sick day or they might lose their fucking job.

Rich people matte, and it's important to keep them happy because they're the ones with the big bucks to donate. Piddling amounts from the unions just can't match the kind of funding you can get from the corporations. Who needs a middle class, anyway? Who needs educated worker bees, or worker bees with their own hives, or worker bees that want days off from service to their masters? Worker bees should work and then they should die.

or even "if" he did - and taken out of context - believes that Rahm has helped the UAW tremendously.

the democratic wing of the Democratic Party to where he's jeopardize many House and Senate seats. He's good at getting Republicans elected and taking money from corporate campaign contributors. The DLC always loses with the exception of Bill Clinton.

Unless Moore really knows what was said and what the other comments were, it's really unfair to paint someone with a "Fuck the UAW" brush.

Maybe they were about to agree on some point, and someone said that the UAW would never go for that, so Rahm responded "Fuck the UAW." To me, that wouldn't mean REALLY fuck the UAW. That to me would mean...we all agree on this point, and if the UAW, whose jobs we're trying to save, won't go for it, that's too bad. We've gotta do what we think is right to save the jobs.

Or maybe he DID mean just "Fuck the UAW" generally.

Thing is...it's not really fair to quote someone when (1) you're not sure if the quote is correct, as Moore admits, and (2) you don't have any of the context or what the statement was referring to.

Would you want yourself quoted that way, and blogged about? Have we forgotten so soon the lesson learned by the lady who was seen on videotape saying she was racist against white farmers seeking monetary help?

That someone like Rahm would be stupid enough to say something like that in an election year. He might think it, and I think he means it. But the oldest rule in the book says you never say it out loud, except behind closed Presidential doors. He'll find out how wrong is is this November when his boss, you know the one elected by unions, labor, and upset voters looses control of the legislative agenda to someone Like Lil Snooty Speaker Newty and the creepy man with the orange tan.

Yes, I know. A personal friendship with a President is great job security. But if Democrats continue to lay down and become the doormats of November,our sitting president, who'd be sitting in the Senate if it weren't for organized labor and organized voters, may find his re-election campaign, which starts November 3rd, may be a longer (unpaved) road than he thinks. I hope Rahm runs for mayor of Chicago.
