WHAT A GREAT NIGHT!
CONGRATULATIONS, PRESIDENT OBAMA AND THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY!!

Big Winners

Barrack Obama
Harry Reid
David Coons
The Progressive Movement

Big Losers

The Republican Party
Sarah Palin
Rush Limbaugh
Glen Beck
The Tea Party
O'Donnell
Sharron Angle

Losers Who Thought They Won

Marco Rubio
Rand Paul

Election Day 2010 was a BANNER day for the Democratic Party, and progressives in general. President Obama has put out the most ambitious, most progressive agenda on the line, and progressives won overall because we kept the Senate, and even though we lost the House, we didn't lost it by much. Because their winning record was much less than expected, we now have fewer targets to destroy in the next two years prior to President Obama's now-easily expected reelection.

Yes, the House was lost. But we only lost by 60! Considering many experts, including myself, were predicting up to a HUNDRED seats lost, and you can see that we really GAINED FORTY SEATS from the scenario a lot of people were predicting! Their expected speaker, John Boehner, will make for an EXTREMELY EASY target, and we can help the media identify the blame of the economy, and all that woes the United States, rightly onto his shoulders. Without a flimsy majority from a NOW-DISCREDITED MOVEMENT, we will be able to focus our resources into ensuring that 2012 will be our YEAR where we will PERMANENTLY DESTROY THE rEPUBLICAN MOVEMENT ONCE AND FOR ALL!!

And kudos for the senate... WAY TO GO!! The criminal republicans spent their final wad putting up characters like Christine McDonnell and Sharron Angle, and we energized our base to repudiate these vomit stains. CONGRATULATIONS!! This is HUGE. Sarah Palin was practically dry humping McDonnell and Angle, and got PWN'D. BIGTIME!!

Speaking of Sarah Palin... SHE IS THE BIGGEST LOSER. There is NO WAY that she can even be considered a viable candidate because her MAIN GUYS LOST. Now, every time she comes on the air or is a news story, we can use the word FAILURE with COMPLETE CONFIDENCE and CREDENCE. This is key!

So all in all...this was a HUGE NIGHT for President Obama's agenda, the END of the Teabagger movement which has sputtered out, and will now be squashed, permanently, in the next two years.

NOTE: I STILL maintain we should not have come to this point IN THE FIRST PLACE. But now, lets move forward, place the targets SQUARELY on the so called teabagger "winners" and COMMENCE FIRING!! Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, expect to be totally destroyed. By the time WE get done with you, YOU will be in prison for LIFE.

Couple it with the fact that California has FINALLY, OFFICIALLY, moved to a full Progressive style of governance, and we will finally rid our society and our planet from the scourge of capitalist, republican oppression.

I'll have more strategy now, starting with our Lame Duck congress and what they should do to set up the next Congress so we can destroy the baggers once and for all.

1. I applaud your optimism. It is time to keep fighting, and you
make some great points. Cheers to California, and holding on to the Senate.

Let's expose the whackos in the House and shut them down.

2. It is an opportunity
So long as we take full advantage of it.

I don't like the "compromise" talk I'm already hearing -- it's time for Barack to lace up some Made-in-the-U.S.A. steel-toed shit-kickers.

The removal of the Blue Dogs was some valuable, overdue house-cleaning.

5. Expect compromise and you won't be disappointed
Let's be realistic. The majority of Americans voted for the other guys to occupy the house. The focus of the next two years must be the 2012 election. If we spend the next two years shooting down every piece of repub legislation, we become the "party of no". Don't count on the media to characterize it as principled opposition because that ain't gonna happen. We need to bite the bullet and suffer through the next 12-18 months, allowing the repubs to gain as little ground as possible without alienating the moderate voters we need to win. There is going to be intense pressure on President Obama because his words and actions are going to set the tone for 2012. I have complete faith in his ability to maneuver through the minefields.

3. Did Prop 19 pass or something?
lol! 'cause I want whatever you're smoking!

Thanks for the smile.

I just don't have your enthusiasm, and maybe that's because last night we lost a congressman, senator and governor in my state (PA).

Palin and her ilk aren't going anywhere. In this celebrity-crazed nation, the cameras will continue to roll whenever she opens her mouth. The nightmare continues.

I'm happy to celebrate California today. Otherwise, I'm feeling low. I don't want to hear what the president has to say right now, either. And the in-fighting here at DU will resume shortly, I'm sure.

<sigh>

I think I need to go for a long run on this beautiful autumn day.

6. Numerically it was a big swing...but in effect...
It was less than 1994. And we recovered after that. IF WE LEARN from this lesson we will again.

Understandably, The Independents are scared, mad, impatient but in many cases misled by the media. The media's "narrative" for a long time was this was preordained.

That and given the tons of cash spent to vilify anything with a D it could have been so much worse.

We got a standing 8 count this round...but we have made it to fight in the next one! :kick:
