Star Wars 3D holograms 'close to reality'

Ever since Princess Leia used a hologram of herself to ask Obi Wan Kenobi for help in the film Star Wars, scientists have been trying to harness the same technology for real.

Now a team led by Professor Nasser Peyghambarian, of Arizona University, have developed a way of updating the image every two seconds – making it close to "real time".

Prof Peyghambarian said: "Holographic telepresence means we can record a three-dimensional image in one location and show it in another location, in real time, anywhere in the world.

The University of Harvard.

There is no "University of Harvard."

I've lived in Tucson for 12 years, never once heard it called Arizona University, even though I worked with people who worked there, have friends who worked there, and am now a student there, albeit an old one.
