Exporting Our Way to Stability by Barack Obama
AS the United States recovers from this recession, the biggest mistake we could make would be to rebuild our economy on the same pile of debt or the paper profits of financial speculation. We need to rebuild on a new, stronger foundation for economic growth. And part of that foundation involves doing what Americans have always done best: discovering, creating and building products that are sold all over the world.

We want to be known not just for what we consume, but for what we produce. >>>

2. That's pretty easy to say, isn't it?

Actually, we do make many such products. In many cases, exports of those products are effectively blocked by other countries' import tariffs and restrictions. A little research will show you some of the products we export. You could start with products from Boeing and our automobile makers. Then there is Caterpillar. Apparently, you have little information about products manufactured here. That can be corrected rather easily on Google.

You could start your education at this link:

6. It's only true when you're talking about consumer products.
We don't make those any more. We do, however, manufacture many other products, particularly capital products. We export those all over the planet, but we could export more of them. I believe that's what's being discussed and promoted by the Obama Administration. If you think we're going to start making TV sets, clothing, and products like that for export again, you'll way wrong. That will never happen again. That market is long gone. What we export is the means of production. That market is still lively and profitable. We need more equitable trade regulations from other countries to increase those exports. President Obama and his administration are working hard on those very things. That's why he's traveling right now.

3. Hate to be cynical but the COC had two goals when they decided
to fund Republicans and run ads against Democrats.
The Asian Free Trade Agreements brought to the floor and passed.
and Number 2: Repeal Wall Street Reforms.
The Republicans heard them loud and clear.

7. If they have a large enough middle class who can afford to buy
our products. Otherwise it is good for the Multinationals
to move businesses there hire cheaper labor. More Job
losses over the long term.
