Republicans wanna be like Roy

n the words of a prominent Missouri Republican, Claire McCaskill is the new glittery object. Actually, her U.S. Senate seat is. The Republicans are mesmerized by it. They covet it. Who will get the chance to try to take it?

Let's preview the Republican fight for the 2012 senatorial nomination. We should start with the Big Two — Ann Wagner and Jim Talent.

Wagner is intelligent and presents herself well. She is a politically conservative mother of three who does not come across as a grizzly mom. She has the advantage of being an insider who is an outsider. That is, she has never run for office and is largely unknown to the general public, but she is well-known and widely admired by Republican insiders.

running her next campaign and setting up an office, messaging and raising money.
