We Do Not Consent to Warrantless "Porno-Scanning" in Airports
We Won't Fly" Campaign Organizer Talks TSA Pat-Downs, Body Scanners & Opt-Out Day

Jim Babb and George Donnelly have started a campaign called "We Won't Fly" to encourage people to "act now" and "travel with dignity." They are asking people to understand that Americans should not be "treated like criminals" when going through airports and are opposed to the new full-body backscatter x-ray airport scanner machines that have been put into airports over the past few months.

The two call the new machines "porno-scanners." And, they are terribly upset with the airlines, which have allowed government to violate customers' rights and liberties and effectively turn airports in the country into Fourth Amendment-free zones.

Several news outlets have picked up this story and are covering Americans' reactions to the "porno-scanners" and the new pat-down procedure. The story will only perpetuate as news media do their routine reports about Americans traveling for Thanksgiving.

George Donnelly agreed to talk to me over the phone about the "We Won't Fly" campaign and how he is giving Americans traveling on the Thanksgiving holiday an opportunity to stand up to Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and opt-out of being scanned by the "porno-scanners."

1. The sick part is
Edited on Tue Nov-16-10 12:03 PM by GiordanoBruno
the TSA sexual assault parade does not heighten security.

The "porno-scanner" would've not caught the "underwear bomber". From now on any bomber worth his salt is going to stick the explosive in a body cavity.

I'm unfamiliar with the kind of person who is weak, degenerate and sychopantic enough to allow their own body to be fondled in order to create the illusion of security.

I'm also unfamiliar with the kind of person who would let their 13-year old daughter's genitals be touched by a government employee because the government says they have to.

Where does this kind of person draw the line? Genital fondling at subway stations, genital fondling when renting trucks, genital fondling before you enter a mall, cavity searches, droit de seigneur?

Where does this person draw the line and under what rationale? Doesn't that rationale work for airport travel as well?

I'm heartsick and incredibly angry. This country is collapsing and no amount of genital fondling is going to save it.

3. Better yet
let's see if Obama lets his own daughters be stripped and fondled by TSA.

5. President Obama?
That Obama? First, they would NEVER pass through an airport scanner anywhere in public view, AND Diplomatic immunity trumps all. So that scenario is impossible.

So you were saying?

9. I'm saying
the powers that be would NEVER allow any of their children to be abused in such a manner. What's okay for the herd-at-large would never be okay for their little Susie, Malia or Jenna.

BTW - you do know that Obama is not a Diplomat right?

10. Do you honestly think the rules are the same for a head of state and his family?
Edited on Tue Nov-16-10 01:32 PM by DainBramaged
I do KNOW PRESIDENT Obama is not a diplomat, but he IS THE PRESIDENT and I do not EVER expect the rules applied to the cattle that we are to apply to him.

PRESIDENT

Obama.

11. I'm sure you felt the same about President Bush as well
"but he IS THE PRESIDENT and I do not EVER expect the rules applied to the cattle that we are to apply to him."

You would make a great subject in a monarchy.

Again the question I'm asking is: Would you let a government thug fondle your 13-year old daughter's genitals?

12. I always referred to President Booshe as President Booshe
Your question is moot, as is your attempt to denigrate President Obama.

4. If enough people refuse to fly ...
the TSA will relax its requirements.

The sad part is that neither the x-rated scanners nor the intimate pat down will detect explosives hidden in body cavities.

The new scanners were financed by the stimulus bill and the administration probably wants to see their use implemented so it can point at at least one successful of the stimulus bill.

But honestly, we could probably train dogs to detect explosives on or in passengers and have a more reliable system than we do now.

6. I guess he's not flying anywhere on Thanksgiving

"he is giving Americans traveling on the Thanksgiving holiday"

Yes, stay home George and tell everyone ELSE to slow down the security lanes and cause as much distraction as possible on the heaviest travel weekend of the year.

7. Between the radiation and the humiliation, this latest nuttery is a bridge too far. And,
with apologies to the countless decent, honest, hardworking TSA employees, I don't see why we should be expected for one second to assume the nudie pictures will not be abused. Didn't that happen once already? Don't we have enough anecdotes on the selection of young women to be screened with the "skirt blower" device to know better?

8. The upcoming holiday season
should be a fine test. Good luck to everyone here to has to fly.

I hope they find out this procedure is more trouble than it is worth. There has to be a more dignified way to travel.
