Democrats as prey
This opinion article was in our local paper, the Mountain Express, located in a blue oasis in Idaho.

1. Like prey, Democrats are always on the defensive
as they allow the Republicans to define them and to define the terms of the debate. It's a recipe for ending up as dinner on the GOP plate.

2. Our problem as a Party
is that populism could be our tailwind but it often gets stymied by the elitism that controls the purse strings and Party.

Simple example: Congress and Obama should have gone after Wall Street, and Americans on both sides would have supported it, but instead Wall Street was rewarded. Wall Street represents big Party donors.

3. Aand Wall St donors ended up
turning on them anyway! They couldn't even settle for a slap on the wrist. Same with the Health Insurance companies, they got a huge gift in the plans and still they all supported the GOP. The dems managed to alienate everyone.

4. this is so self-evidently true, you have to wonder if the Democrats are just playing a role as loyal
opposition, sort of like Alan Colmes used to do on Hannity and Colmes.
