Why Norway deported its 'Norwegian of the year' (BBC) {not officially Norwegian!}

Norway has arrested and deported a young Russian woman who was crowned "Norwegian of the year" after writing a book about her life as an illegal immigrant.

Her fate prompted nationwide public protests against the asylum laws, and the centre-left coalition government has been left shaken.

Maria Amelie, 25, real name Madina Salamova, captured the hearts of many Norwegians with "Illegally Norwegian", a book describing her fleeing the Russian republic of North Ossetia as a child and going underground with her parents when their asylum application was rejected.

Maria Amelie somehow managed to evade Norway's immigration authorities for eight years while learning fluent Norwegian, getting a university degree and then writing her best-selling book.

"I was born in the Caucasus but I have spent more than half of my life fleeing," she told Norwegian media when it was published last autumn.

Immigration services NEVER seem to get the real bad guys when they're going after aliens, and they always end up hounding those who, while TECHNICALLY breaking a law, are harmless and should clearly be left alone(or who, in the case of the woman in the OP, have clearly done enough to make an effort to fit into the society they've joined to be accepted within it).

First of all, this young woman, was living ILLEGAL in Norway for more than 8 year, before she was to write a book, who was made rather popular and who made a lot of stir when it was released.. And yes, she was also named "norwigian of the year" for her book, and for what she was telling in her book.. USA have a far more strict policy when it came to Illegals than Norway have.

But, she then belived, becouse of her famous and her book, and some mighty friends, she could just jump ahead of the line, and be allowed to live her in Norway.. It is not the way things work in this country.. And she also pissed of a lot of government officials with some of her actions... Finaly after all the fuss (it was a 3 week ordeal in most of the news, both paper and on TV) she finaly was been arrested, and then sendt back to Russia..

But, if she want to came back to Norway, she have to do it the "right way"; not just stay in Norway becouse she dosen't want to leave the country... She have also a fioncee, who I withouth doubt wil do his best to do what he can, to do the right thing too.. He might even marry the woman, becouse then she can came back, as part of a familiy.. To an Norwigian also!:..

This history, who had made the hole way to BBC, have a lot more history behind in, that she was trown out of the country... But it was somewhat of a show..
