GOP Congressman Tells Televangelists U.S. Must Give Aid To Israel Or ‘Lose God’s Hand’
Last weekend, Rep. Dan Webster (R-FL) appeared on “Good Life 45,” a televangelist program based near his central-Florida district. At one point during the discussion, which was centered around ways to reduce government spending, Webster recalled that many of his constituents had asked about cutting foreign aid. Webster explained that the government cannot “get rid of all foreign aid” because that would endanger money for Israel.

Rather than making a policy-based argument to back up his firm belief in giving billions in foreign aid to Israel, Webster said the money is necessary to ensure “God’s hand” stays with America. “I love giving money to Israel,” Webster exclaimed. If we end the assistance to Israel, Webster continued, “we lose God’s hand and we’re in big trouble”:

WEBSTER: I believe God’s hand needs to be on this country.

HOST: That’s right.

WEBSTER: Some people have been talking about, every place I go, they bring up the issue foreign aid. I go, you can’t get rid of all foreign aid. Why? Because you ask them and they go, ‘yea we can’t do that.’ You take away the money from Israel? No. That’s something we can’t do. Do I like foreign aid? Sometimes, but not every time. Don’t like giving money to our enemies, but I love giving money to Israel. And so there’s a picture there that people realize that, we stop helping Israel, we lose God’s hand and we’re in big time trouble.

HOST: That’s right.

Watch it:

1. Using his viewpoint, isn't support of Israel
confirmation of their attempt at establishment of a state religion. Supporting Israel for religious reasons. I know it's those end timers trying to establish this as a Christian nation.

2. The evangelical church I was raised in preached this line all the time
It's just another fear tactic now being used by right-wing politicians.

14. What happened that they ignored it? "Life and Ambition" maybe got in the way...
Who knows...but those "10 Commandments" are broken by both Jews and Christians every day ...if one is powerful enough to get away with it and faces no consequences.

The rest of the "Commandments" violaters...sit in our Prison Society...locked up... (I think that smoking weed or selling or growing it, was added as an "unwritten Commandment..somewhere along the way).

15. Trashing the "Bible Belt" for Global Climate Change consequences is cruel.
Be careful because wherever YOU LIVE...might be next. Attacking your fellow humans for circumstances beyond their control is like dancing on grave that you might be the next one into because of something "unforseen" that happens to you and your family.

Did you ever think before you posted that?

8. Bad theology. Literalism and not even good literalism.
The modern state of Israel bears little relationship to the Biblical Israel and to try to base the foreign policy of the U.S. on a misreading of the Old Testament is just ignorant.

10. These are a lot of the same people
that would like to base the entire US Government not just foreign policy on simple misreadings of Old Testament theology.

13. I don't think that there are people in any religious community that follow the "10 Commandments"
these days. I think there are too many people who've broken so many of those covenants that they have to ignore them to keep sane.

It's sad...because they are a good guideline how to live with one's fellow travelers. The "Golden Rule" is another homilie that is helpful for those of us who urge "Peace and Fellowship."

But...it's what it is today. It's just war...war..and more war. Terror...Terror...and More Terror.

Then there's the "surveillance society." Gotta watch "the peoples" so that they don't kill the rest of us.

:eyes: It's all very disheartening and some is just plain disgusting.

12. I'ver tead that the "Tea Party Folks" are Fundamentalist Christians who prefer Old Testament
and so are very fond of supporting Israel. So...I assume that those are the same who overwhelmingly Applauded and did Standing Ovations during Netenyahu's Speech to them.

But, what was surprising is that Dems who are not part of the Religious Right also thought that "Bibi's" Speech was so enlightening and inspirational that they TOO were Joining In on all the Standing Ovations and the loud applause and thundering hoots and Woo's.

:eyes: I watched it and was totally wierded out.
