Tea Party Owes More to the Church of Satan Than to Jesus

Tea partiers love to quote Ayn Rand, the atheist novelist, philosopher and patron saint of capitalism. What many of them don't know is that Rand was also the inspiration behind Anton LaVey's Church of Satan. LaVey once declared: "I give people Ayn Rand with trappings." How to self-described Christians within the tea party feel about that? I'd love to know.

5. That's what always gets me when the baggers start in with their religion. Nothing

that dribbles out of their mouths ever equates with what they babble on about in true christianity. In fact, I probably know more about the christian religion than the lot of them put together and I'm not religious. The crap they spout on about as their beliefs comes straight from the depths of hell.

3. A lot of the wingnut 'baggers don't seem to be aware that Ayn Rand

was not only a crappy writer and a nasty human being whose hero was the serial killer William Hickman, but also a stone cold atheist who had no use for Christianity because it called upon people to make sacrifices for the sake of their "inferiors."

4. Finally! I've been saying this for years....

I know most people aren't familiar with the actual tenets of the Lavey's church and his brand of Satanism. They dismissively think it's some cartoonish (which it kind of is) religion about worshiping God's nemesis/foil/fallen angel/whatever. That aspect of it is just a symbolic part of it, but most of it revolves around selfishness, self interest, self motivation, whatever.

Which is why I've always tried pointing out the irony that a political party that most embodies the beliefs of the church of satan, wraps themselves so heavily in the church of Christ.

Good to see someone else point this out for a change.
