Organic Seeds Growers are Suing Monsanto – support them
Monsanto has a history of suing farmers for patent infringement over the years, often wrongfully. Well, the Organic Seed Growers and Trade Association (OSGATA) has decided to sue Monsanto for wrongful patent infringement lawsuits.

Problems with genetically modified seeds

Giant corporations are coming to control the food supply. The system they instill is set up perfectly for monoculture, which destroys ecosystem diversity.

Ecosystem diversity is important for controlling disease and pests. Company like Monsanto attempt to control this by using chemicals and genetically modified seeds (which are failing). They are shrinking the world’s seed diversity through these tactics.

OSGATA assures organic farmers have access to quality organic seeds. They also help ensure that consumers have the option of eating healthy, organic food.

8. Funny how this was all predicted. The profits above people
big businesses wants to control all seed production and what better way than to destroy all other naturally occurring plants. This is happening for them through "drift". In the meanwhile, the desire for organic foods is growing and Organic producers are strengthening and becoming profitable even to the point where one can now buy organic milk and some produce at Walmart. I do not believe for one minute that these products are controlled and produced organically but this can't be proven and we certainly would not win the case if we tried to fight it out with Wally World.

Sorry, I love the freedom of the internet but I think that there are many more destructive organizations than Google. BTW, welcome here.

22. I don't want to take away from your OA, but I just read this and was floored by it.
"The Seed

Just as dramatic is the struggle for the seed. More than 1,000 independent seed companies were swallowed up by multinationals in the past four decades, so today just three—Monsanto, DuPont and Syngenta—control about half the proprietary seed market worldwide.

Fueling the consolidation were three Supreme Court rulings since 1980—including one in 2002, with an opinion written by former Monsanto attorney Clarence Thomas—making it possible to patent life forms, including seeds. And in 1992 the Food and Drug Administration released its policy on genetically modified organisms, claiming that “the agency is not aware of any information showing that foods…differ from other foods in any meaningful or uniform way.”

The government’s green light fueled the rapid spread of GMOs and monopolies—so now most US corn and soybeans are GMO, with genes patented largely by one company: Monsanto. The FDA position helped make GMOs’ spread so invisible that most Americans still don’t believe they’ve ever eaten them—even though the grocery industry says they could be in 75 percent of processed food."
