Iranian pastor's case is a human issue, not a Christian cause

Youcef Nadarkhani, a Christian pastor in Iran, faces possible execution on a charge of apostasy for refusing to renounce his faith in favor of Islam. Meanwhile, 62% of Americans think of the United States as "a Christian nation." Is it any wonder that tensions between the United States and the Muslim world are so high? The fundamentalists are winning. On both sides.

It's no wonder that the tea party - with its strong ties to Christian fundamentalism - is so popular. Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain wants to ban Muslims from building mosques. An ultra-right wing nut job named Terry Jones wants to burn the Qur'an (just like Muslim extremists overseas make it a habit to burn the American flag). The Dominionists are winning here, just as the fundamentalists hold the upper hand in Iran. And the military machines of both countries win right along with them.

2. Don't listen or judge by the "fundamentalists", they're only using their "faith" for themselves.

The fact that the "tea party" is so in favor of false witness and a proclivity to judging others that it should be obvious they aren't practicing Christianity, no matter how many times they say otherwise or wear fancy gold crosses on their lapels or around their neck. I feel the same about Muslim radicals, whose very existence smears all the regular normal peace loving Muslims who are just trying to live their life day to day.
I'll be praying for Pastor Youcef, I hope he survives his ordeal.
