Daily Kos: PolitiFact '2011 Lie of the Year' finalist ... is true
PolitiFact has named the claim that Republicans voted to end Medicare a finalist for their "2011 Lie of the Year" award.

The only problem? Republicans did vote to end Medicare. Even PolitiFact conceded that Republicans voted to end Medicare "as we know it." But because Republicans would replace the Medicare that we know with another program that they also call Medicare, PolitiFact says they did not in fact vote to end Medicare.

5. They have lost their credibility.

And are therefore irrelevant.

BTW, this claim is no longer a finalist. Politifact has indeed selected this true assertion as the lie of the year.

I've been suspicious of them for awhile now, ever since they gave Obama credit for keeping his promise to get our troops out of Iraq in 16 months. He didn't. I challenged them on that one, citing quotes with accompanying links. Yet they didn't bother to reply or revisit their ruling.
