Many Greeks are draining their savings accounts because they are out of work, face rising taxes or are afraid the country will be forced to leave the euro zone. By withdrawing money, they are forcing banks to scale back their lending -- and are inadvertently making the recession even worse.

I have no links, but I read it here. I think there is weight to it. Of course the US "Librul Media" and the American RW beat the "mess of commie pinko librul social programs did it" drum.

4. I keep pointing out to right-wingers that the Scandinavian countries have

MUCH more generous social programs than either Greece or Italy, the difference being that they pay for them.
