Tony Perkins opens his pie hole about the Occupy movement
And of course CNN had to give him space http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2011/12/06/my-take-jesus-was-a-free-marketer-not-an-occupier/">to do so;

Jesus rejected collectivism and the mentality that has occupied America for the last few decades: that everyone gets a trophy – equal outcomes for inequitable performance. There are winners and yes, there are losers. And wins and losses are determined by the diligence and determination of the individual.

Some would argue that such an approach encourages abuses, the likes of which we have seen on Wall Street. While some egregious abuses have taken place, they are not inevitable or intrinsic to free enterprise.

Ugh? What will CNN do next? Give air time to a Klan leader? Seeing as how they're inviting the heads of hate groups to spout their nonsense on their web site wouldn't surprise me.

1. What if the gamed is rigged by the 'winners' to always 'win'?
"Heads I Win, Tails You Lose" isn't a game, it's an inevitability.

If no matter how hard the individual tries to win a game that there is zero chance of winning and loses every single time, the game needs to be changed.

3. Once again, a Rightie confuses the teachings of Christ with...
...the teachings of St. Ronnie.

Mr. Perkins should also be reminded that leading a political organization for persons of certain religious beliefs is not equal to being a pastor or scholar of religion. He is therefore no more an authority on what Christ believed or intended than any other person on the street.

Perhaps CNN needs to be reminded of that fact, as well.

4. When did Jesus do this?
Eventually, the right-wingers will have perverted the Bible so much that instead of the miracle of the loaves and fishes, Jesus will yell, "Get a job," to the multitudes in between bites of a fish sandwich.

-- The Tony Perkins version --

Jeebus loves Gelt! This I know,
For my Broker tells me so.
Free markets to Him belong;
They are short but He is long.

(Chorus: Yes, Jeebus loves Gelt! etc.)

Jeebus loves Gelt! This I know,
When the trendlines 'gainst Him go.
Bloomberg Term'nal on his knee
Saying "Let them come to me."

(Chorus: Yes, Jeebus loves Gelt! etc.)

Jesus loves Gelt! He trades good,
Uses sell-stops like he should.
Jeebus gets out when it's bad
Though it makes Him very sad.

(Chorus: Yes, Jeebus loves Gelt! etc.)

Jeebus loves Gelt still today,
Says "Occupiers, go away!"
He's the One Percent above
Wields the Pepper Spray of Love.

8. Collectivism? Is he taking talking points from Luntz?
I highly doubt the term or concept of "collectivism" even existed in the time of Jesus. Of course, the term wouldn't have been "collectivism" since Jesus didn't speak English.

Most economies were based on small business people selling their goods in an open market. Wal-Mart just didn't exist yet.

Jesus said we should be kind to those less fortunate than us. And I remember a passage about how it's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into heaven. I don't hear those Wall Street guys quoting that.
