Occupy Fort Worth site is cleared out by police

Police confiscated signs and other items from the Occupy Fort Worth site Wednesday morning, 58 days after activists showed up at a downtown park to protest corporate greed and influence.

Police officials said officers had repeatedly warned the protesters at Burnett Park about violations of the city code. Protesters accused police of trying to silence and intimidate them.

Police officers confiscated cardboard signs, chairs, medical supplies and other items being kept on the Lamar Street sidewalk, according to Anthony Baker, a local homeless man who is among the protesters and vowed to maintain the demonstration.

"They could come and do this every night for all I care," Baker said. "How hard is it to find some cardboard?"
