Gene Lyons: The Worst President of AllTimes
I rec'd it in my email - is it OK to post entire article? Don't have a link.....

<snip>
Nothing more unites Democrats heading into a presidential election than
determination to defeat George W. Bush. Almost regardless of age, most
see him as the worst president of their lives. Retiring South Carolina
Sen. Ernest "Fritz" Hollings put it this way: "I can tell you this
categorically, we've got the weakest president...in the history of my 50
years of public service. I say weak president in that the poor boy
campaigns all the time and pays no attention to what's going on in the
Congress. Karl Rove tells him to do this or do that or whatever it is,
but he's out campaigning."

1. more of article..
<snip>
Bush's sheer incompetence is impossible to overstate. The bad news and
the lies just keep on coming. Yesterday, we learned that the U.S. budget
deficit will reach a record $480 billion for this fiscal year. 2001
Nobel Prize-winning economist George Akerloff told the German magazine
Der Spiegel "this is the worst government the US has ever had in its
more than 200 years of history." He described Bush's save-the-rich tax
cuts as "is a form of looting" that will bankrupt the treasury.
It was also recently revealed that the White House pressured the
Environmental Protection Agency to suppress findings of deadly toxins in
the atmosphere in lower Manhattan after 9/11 for fear public warnings
would damage the economy. Between dollars and lives, Bush chose the
bottom line.

In Iraq, there have now been more American soldiers killed since Bush's
theatrical aircraft carrier landing off San Diego than before he
announced the end of combat. More than two dozen have died since the
president left Washington to spend time roping and branding golf carts
on his Texas ranch earlier this month.

3. Looting is precisely what Bush does - like Batista in Cuba
When Batista, the last in a long line of exploitative dictators of Cuba, abandoned his country on New Year's Eve (don't recall the year), the Cuban military was looking for someone to surrender too, but Batista had totally looted the treasury, leaving it penniless, so there were no takers. Finally, they "surrendered" to a group of rebels in the mountains, led by Fidel Castro, without a shot being fired. Wonder where the Bushes and his Cabinet and his Supreme Court plan on retiring, when they leave us the crushing burden of their deficit.

8. Bush doesn't run this country. He uses it.
He left Texas a millionaire. He will leave Washington a billionaire.

11. I love the smell of fresh Lyons and Conason in the morning.
"More than two dozen have died since the president left Washington to spend time roping and branding golf carts on his Texas ranch earlier this month."
Lyons, http://hnn.us/articles/900.html

"If the citizen were of a certain age, he or she might dimly remember how the nation’s economy grew for decades with regulated utilities (and some that were even owned by the public—like the Los Angeles power plants that continued to supply electricity even during the blackouts)."
Conason, http://www2.observer.com/observer/pages/conason.asp

They shame the media.

17. butt geebush represents america!
it's hard not to be freeper-like in demeanor when regarding * .... the fact is history is just a big goofy cartoon the way it's unfolded these last couple generations.....mygod the reactionaries HATED the counterculture, the age of aquarius stuff, the woodstock generation, and they've retaliated by literally perverting the very language/spirit etc of their 'homeland'...when one hates fascism as much as i do, it's a pleasure to see the grotesque spectacle made out of the best fed best educated most blessed society in earth history...
the flaw in this thinking is that too many of you are wonderful people....
