Amid inquiries, FBI confiscates computers, files from City Hall

sorry if this is a dupe, just snooping around the net and this caught my eye

The FBI swarmed East St. Louis City Hall on Tuesday afternoon and left with at least a dozen boxes of files and several computers.

The raid comes a week after a grand jury was convened as part of an investigation into possible voter fraud in the Nov. 2 election.

The raid on Tuesday came late in the day while City Hall was still open for business. FBI agents would not comment but their search was limited to City Manager Robert Storman's office and the Department of Regulatory Affairs, headed by precinct committeeman Kelvin Ellis. Ellis was among those subpoenaed to testify before the grand jury.

The server for most of the building's computers was among the items seized. It was housed in Storman's office.

2. Noticed that there was no party affiliation mentioned
for any of the players. Given red state, I assumed 'pub, but it is a large city, so can't be certain.... Can anyone confirm the assumption.

5. Here's more..looks like it's Democrats
FBI agents served subpoenas Tuesday to key Democrats in East St. Louis, ordering them to appear before a grand jury to answer how they spent money in the Nov. 2 election.

James Lewis, director of the East St. Louis Board of Elections, said he also received a summons to appear before the grand jury Thursday at the federal courthouse in East St. Louis.

City Councilman Charlie Powell, chairman of the city's powerful Democratic Central Committee, confirmed he, too, was subpoenaed.

Asked whether he had been held for questioning by the FBI for several hours, as other precinct committeemen said, Powell answered: "I can't comment. You're going to have to talk to them," meaning federal agents. Powell, who said he had not been arrested, declined further comment.

Steve Reeb, a Republican candidate who lost a race for St. Clair County Board, said Wednesday that the probe did not come from his camp. He had earlier questioned the election results and contemplated a lawsuit. Reeb said he and others have been looking into irregularities since the election, but had yet to provide results to the U.S. attorney's office.

"There are things that I have uncovered," Reeb said. "I want to make sure I don't do anything to jeopardize what they are doing. I'm going to continue to look into these things, absentee ballots, felons voting, possibly dead people casting ballots. My phone has not stopped ringing since the election."

East St. Louis Democrats helped turn the tide in the County Board race and put Belleville Mayor Mark Kern into the job over Reeb.

Powell, who has led East St. Louis Democrats for several years, was targeted shortly before the election by the state Republican Party. In combing through voter rolls, party leaders uncovered 17 registered voters who live at a residence he owns. The home in question turned out to be a boarding house.

6. oh great
I'm glad to see the feds on the case, but it seems odd that with all the data we've found, including BBV's from Volusia County, FL, that it is the dems that are being targeted.

Good news for proving fraud can happen, but why can't they come and investigate our stuff too?

Just some thoughts...

- George

7. I know. I can't take much more of this.
Fraud against American Democrats doesn't matter does it. It will not be investigated no matter how glaring the evidence is. But any other election fraud will be dealt with. This just gets more surreal by the minute.

8. BBV might want to
contact the agents involved in St. Lious and give them a complete packet of info on the Volusia matter, with a note referencing equal protection. I am wondering if they turn down investigating it (or refering it to others in the FBI to investigate), or otherwise ignore her report, you can call the FBI on violating our equal protection rights under the 14th Amendment.

Just a thought. - G

9. The question is...
can we even trust these people? I mean... think about it, is there a soul active in the government that we can trust or has enough say that makes the difference???

10. Maybe Souter, Ginsberg and Stevens
And the Democratic Women in the legislature. Maybe Nancy Reagan, if Ron Jr. can catch her ear.
