EAST BRUNSWICK — The newly formed Democratic Youth of East Brunswick
has attracted not only members, but Congressional attention to boot.

Upset with the proposed changes to the club, the girls told the Board
of Education they would start a nonsponsored club. Still, Republican
students from the Middlesex County Teenage Republicans said they
feared the new Democratic club would not abide by school policies. The
Republican students have since formed their own school club.
Tension between the politically involved teens remains, according to
Palmer, but has died down since Democrats stopped posting messages on
the Republicans’ Web site.
Myers said the two clubs have heightened the sense of political
awareness at the school, and in conjunction with the Republican club,
organized a political spirit week before the presidential election.
“I feel both clubs are adding to the level of activism,” she said.
