The religious right is only 22 % of the voting population at most. And they don't all march in lock-step.
Isn't it true that people generally think that politicians are self-serving, but will also say that their particular representative is a good guy. I read that somewhere. Marching orders won't work.

I read an article (will try to find it later) that stated that the percentage of Evangelical Christians that voted in the 2004 election was the same that voted in previous elections, i.e., in 1996 and 2000.

However, they seem to believe, and have convinced Bush that THEY were the ones that voted him into office. They all have almost threatened him if he did not do as they wanted. Also, they have convinced Bush that the Almighty God Himself has placed him(Bush) in the White House at this time. They have also convinced him that his decisions are Biblical, and in a sense, will bring about the Rapture and the return of the Messiah Himself.

I don't know about you all but that scares the c*** out of me.

If George Bush is a Christian, as he states, his actions sure do not show him to be. However, neither do the actions or words of some of these so-called, self-proclaimed men of God.

14. "Evangelicals" are 22%, but I'm not sure they are all involved in

the Religous Right. Does anybody know for sure? I heard last night that the Christian Coaltion, for example, numbers only 2 million members. Yet if you check out the Repuke voting records, many Repukes let this relatively smallish group run the entire government. How many Dems do we have? How many millions? And they don't allow our party into committee meetings where legislation is discussed!

I have a bumper sticker with that quote. I think it is a very important principle of good government. We have to participate, not just complain. I always ask people who bitch and moan about the govt if they have voted..if they have not, they cannot complain.

I cannot argue with that.

I don't know what is wrong with the leaders of our party. They let the right tell them that they have no message, they have no ideas, they have no right to an opinion. They are letting the Republicans walk all over them and continue to do so.

There are a few that speak out . . . Byrd, Kennedy, Clinton (God I hope she runs in 2008. I would love Bill Clinton as the First Gentleman and Hillary as the first female President. She would get some issues taken care of).

Also, that is their fear. They fear the Clintons and that is why they bash them so much. They started on Bill Clinton as soon as he announced he was running for President. Of course, he gave them some fuel for their fire, but they didn't break the man like they tried to.

I just cannot believe this Country has "voted" Dubya in twice. I find it odd that the exit polls have always been accurate, that is until 2000 and 2004.

Another thing we cannot allow them to do, and that is to change the Constitution back to where a President can have more than two terms. The Republicans amended this because of FDR. Now they want to change it back for Bush. Also, no one who is not born an American Citizen should EVER be President. NEVER. I feel they are going to try to change this as well.

We gotta get out there and get our voices heard . . . but how? We can protest, we can fax/write our senators or congressmen, we can vote (but that does not even count for anything anymore). We have no voice. Unless we get militant and organize a coup (could anyone imagine us doing this), we're screwed and spit upon. So what can we do????
