The idea that today's conservatives are in any way defenders of individual liberty, the free market, and what Russell Kirk called "the permanent things," i.e., the sacred traditions that have accumulated over time to constitute the core of our Judeo-Christian culture, is no longer a defensible proposition. Instead, what used to be called the conservative movement has morphed, almost overnight, into a coterie of moral monsters, whose political program is one of unmitigated evil.

Sufficiently obscure. Although this sort of analysis is edifying in its details, I would have chosen Ledeen rather than Schwartz as a more suitable example. Of course it makes you wonder whose stooge Schwartz really is. He seems like a Chalabi wanna be.

The attraction of extremist ideology like fascism for former communists has been observed and commented on by serious scholars of fascism in the twentieth century. The urge is to dominate others one way or the other.

Hell I was a Republican then. This stuff they are doing is far off what even most polls say Americans want but here we are. We seem to be going to get it.

and this is something that I ALWAYS bring up when talking about empires
and what-not. NO OTHER empire has EVER had the capability to take down
the rest of the world with its demise. NONE.

5. That's why I enjoy reading Justin's editorials

he's a no holds bared type writer who is concerned about what is being
done to our country.
We need more investigative writers like him working within the "mass
media", aka "liberal media" in order to get to the American people.
