Out in the Atlantic, off the coast of Africa, there lies the Canary island of La Palma. It's home to the world's most dangerous and geologically unstable volcano: Cumbre Vieja. It's literally on a hair trigger; its next eruption (just about due, I would say) will in all likelihood cause a huge rockslide, in the course of which a slice of land twice the size of the Isle of Man will plunge into the sea. The event will set in motion what may safely be called the Mother Of All Tsunamis, which will then head west across the pond, to cause unimaginable death and destruction on the north coast of South America, the islands of the Caribbean and the entire eastern seaboard of the United States.
When (not if) that happens - it could be tomorrow or in 100 years' time - the international community will face an aid operation compared to which the current one will seem no more difficult than rescuing a pussycat from a tree.

That's an interesting short article about tsunamis and the news that one affecting South America/Caribbean and USA eastern seaboard is one in which I think many will be interested.

Maybe it should have a thread title suggesting it's about tsunamis? Something like "Tsunami Could also Affect USA, SA and Caribbean?"

Or "How a Tsunami Could Affect the USA?"

I also thought this interesting because I was wondering why we hadn't heard many stories about animals and the tsunami:


Strangely, very few animals seem to have died in the disaster, which only reinforces the feeling that Man, living in his unnatural environments and long having lost his survival instincts, is more and more becoming an unwanted guest on the planet.

2. Have Seen This Topic

A few years ago. The author here seems to approach the deaths in a light manner. But the threat of this is still there.

On the point of other animals I came across this posting earlier. I was wondering if the reason was the low frequencies, perhaps from the waves, that the elephants use for some communications.
