He seems to have a thing for those. Those photos he showed to the Security Council really had me scratching my head. They could have been taken at an industrial park right here in the U.S. And that little vial of "anthrax", my God, it was all so embarrassing. He actually brought PROPS.

even when speaking about his satellite photos and props, it was clear he was lying. He spoke with eyes cast downward, without any verbal emphasis--he looked like a man defeated, and I don't understand why he did not walk away at that time. It could have salvaged his political career. Working for Bush brought down Powell's property value big time.

7. Good to see this finally coming out

I posted a thread earlier asking how he gets away with it. Maybe he won't, from now on. I don't want his mea culpa when he is forced out in a second term. We need to hear from him NOW, if he has a shred of integrity left (probably not).

12. He strikes me as a man not overly endowed intellectually

but who has the act down pat. I think that is why so many people thought he had integrity and was a real stand up kind of a guy. He plays the part well, better than Bush does, but nevertheless he seems to be playing a part and has rehearsed his role so many times that he knows it by heart, right down to the serious looking, decisive, "thinking" Powell we see in the photos positioned behind or next to Bush at some important event. The expression is always the same in those photo ops. He is paying strict attention to his Commandeer in Chief leader, brows knit, and intensely concentrating on Bush, to whom he has just given some profound piece of strategy. I think at this point it is safe to say Powell is probably advising Bush on what tie to wear more than any foreign policy.

in your analysis of Powell, for the most part, in my opinion. Not a big fan either.

In the past few years though, it must be kept in mind that State has battled with DoD quite often. Sometimes it seems like Powell is the only one who could counter Rumsfeld from the inside. Powell has done more to stop Rumsfeld when he had the political power to do so than any of the Democratic nominees we all see to worship around here.

But yeah, I'd still never want him in a new administration under a Democratic President.
