Why aren't O'Neill's statements getting more attention from the press

Former U.S. Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill likened President Bush at Cabinet meetings to "a blind man in a room full of deaf people," according to excerpts Friday from a CBS interview.

O'Neill, who was fired by Bush in December 2002, also said the president did not ask him a single question during their first one-on-one meeting, which lasted an hour.

"As I recall it was just a monologue," he told CBS' "60 Minutes," which will broadcast the entire interview Sunday.

I mean this is pretty sharp criticism with wide ranging implications (Iraq, anyone?) from a man who used to be a cabinet member. It should be HUGE. It should be the TOP STORY. Instead all they are doing is focusing on Dean's statement from four years ago.

WTF gives?

1. Why are we still surprised to find out
that we live in a fascistic environment, of controlled information?

Why is it still a surprise that this is NOT the top story and that of course they would focus on Dean's statements from 4 years ago, just like they focused on Bill and Monica, as if it was relevant to any of our lives?

Let's not be surprised anymore. This is what we have to deal with.
Let's not wait for the media to do its job. It won't. Let's do ours, and propagate real news as much as we can, as we are already doing on DU, MWO, Bartcop, etc.

2. Paul's local NPR station just got done with Pro-Bush spinning...
WDUQ - Pittsburgh just announced the book was out, was critical of Bush and then, without saying one thing about what was in the book, said that a local political expert doubts it will have much impact on the pResident's political campaign. Double-plus good spin.

Did you see the interviews when O'Neill came back from Africa?? He appeared with Bono several times to promote more AIDS funding and programs, etc. in Africa. I knew when I saw those interviews that he was different than the rest.

7. That is absolutely ridiculous
They didn't even mention what was in the book? How can you not mention a great quote like "Bush is like a blind man in a room full of deaf people."???

I know, I know...we can't expect anything from the media. But for a while there I really thought they were doing better. I thought they might have finally had enough of Shrub, but it appears they're still covering his backside.

when he CLAIMS he doesn't drink anymore.

THAT was the tape they should have been playing up during 2000, but instead they decided to call Gore a liar.

11. superfat oinker Larry Lindsey, fired w/ONeill, was just on CNBC
asked about ONeill, he said he was just a very bitter man, for whom he felt sorry.

well, I feel sorry for YOU, you gigantic tub of pustulating smegma!

I'd give anything to see you try to pry yourself out of that chair that was swallowing you up, Jabba.

this was after he tried to paint a smiley face on the pathetic job "creation" fiasco of December, assuring us all that the econony is roaring ahead, and there's nothing but blue sky on the horizon
