I'm learning all about your religion tonight ... on the 700 Club. This is the most fucked up...bizarre....television program EVER. Its almost got me convinced that I should explore this religion.

this is HELL man PURE HELL. Its like that recurring nightmare I've been having where I'm watching the 700 club 24/7, and my belt buckle is jammed so i cant drop trou and moon the television.

More of the pagan(druid)/Buddhist vein - the wifey practices more Wicca than I. Very centering, for the most part. All about the good will and good mojo.

And yes, it's much sad that people can't let others be.

Oh - and thanks for the welcome :) I've been lurking for months - reading my fool head off. Methinks there's some good folks around here... looking forward to being part of the discussions from here on out.

Although, I can't belong to anything organized. It has to come from within my soul and I know that.

It does come from within. But I've sometimes found myself incertain houses of worship, most often Catholic and Greek Orthodox, when the rythem of meditation carries you along with others and that connection is really powerful. So no, not really the result of "organized" religion but..

I kid you not. I really miss being a Catholic because of that. I lived in a convent school a good part of my life and there is nothing more inspiring than a well done mass with the Gregorian chant sung by those who know how to do it. But, I also realize that is what mesmerizes you and you have to let go.

Catholicism is not the answer. I can't belong to a religion that relegates its women to a subordinate role. It makes me feel like a chimpanzee, that I share 98% of the genes but that other 2% doesn't quite make fully human and as complete as a man. There are many other issues too for me, but that is the main one.
