What is the real reason they are changing Saddam's status to POW??
This has puzzled me since I first heard about it. If he is a POW, can they still turn him over to the Iraqi National Congress, once they are given power? Or does POW status permit us to maintain custody of the madman, even if we are no longer officially "in control" of Iraq? I'm certain there are some secretive and shady reasonings behind this decision. Any thoughts about other possibilities??

2. Sadam POW
As a POW we don't have to turn him over to the Iraqis until we
declare an undeclared war over.

3. they were talking about it on the news last night
Seems a few news casters have begun to see the light. Night line carried a story on the legal ramifications of declaring him a POW. Basically they get to avoid due process and the administration gets to do what ever they please.

they also cited several other cases and had legal experts very critical of the bushit policies.

This is being looked at with some real interest by the supreme court it appears.

4. Get ready for the trial held in secret because of national security issues
They're already doing this crap in Florida. This plan has been in the works for a long time. The Bush* administration CANNOT afford a public trial. No Nuremburg-type trial for Saddam, sorry.

5. Royalty is often hesitant to execute other royals. It's insurance.
Saddam's POW status today is Bush's argument for POW status and Geneva Convention observance tomorrow.

Haha- no I don't actually believe that, I'm kidding.

6. They have no choice with Saddam. . .
He is the very CLEAR leader of the opposing force which had a structured army in uniform, so there's no ambiguity whatsoever with the interpretation of the Geneva Convention.

They can't use any of their illegitimate excuses this time, their being watched too closely.
