Which candidate is right for you?
Found this interesting site...or rediscovered it. I think I remeber this from the last election. It measures candidates views against your own. You can choose whether you want to include viable candidates or not, or restrict choices to the two main political parties.

My top 5 were:
1. Kucinich, Cong. Dennis, OH - Democrat (100%)
2. Kerry, Senator John, MA - Democrat (97%)
3. Dean, Gov. Howard, VT - Democrat (90%)
4. Edwards, Senator John, NC - Democrat (90%)
5. Lieberman Senator Joe CT - Democrat (85%)

My bottom 5 were:
9. Sharpton, Reverend Al - Democrat (68%)
10. Libertarian Candidate (41%)
11. Bush, George W. - US President (18%)
12. Phillips, Howard - Constitution (-5%)
13. LaRouche, Lyndon H. Jr. - Democrat (-8%)

It doesn't factor certain things so odd results may occur. I didn't think I was as liberal as Kucinich...I'm split between Kerry and Dean. The link can be found at: http://www.selectsmart.com/president/

2. This is pretty inaccurate because..
There are so many options, things it didn't talk about. And I absolutely can't stand Dick Gephardt. This didn't change my opinion. I'm still a split between Dean and Kerry... I'm NOT as liberal as Kucinich, at least I didn't think I was! I guess I don't know a heck of a lot about Carol Moseley-Braun...

5. that thing is confusing I agree
how is Howard Phillips higher than Lyndon LaRouche. I have taken other tests and Kucinich is my choice. You may not like Gebby but he may be simliar to you. Are you fairly liberal socially and liberal economically I am liberal on all so Kucinich or a Green always would be high for me.

12. That's true
I have no problem with Kucinich's positions, my problem is with the fact that I want a Democrat elected this time and am fairly certain he could not get enough popularity to even compete with Shrub. Sad but true, it is the world of politics. If you lean too far to the left, you are very likely to lose the swing votes.

I am for Dean all the way, however I respect Kuchinich, this is not a surprise to me. That's pretty close. then there's a gap between Dean and Kerry. That doesn't surprise me either.

We should get those Dean haters to do this poll

9. same here
it's a shame about Kucinich...

and i just don't think i like/trust Dean. someone earlier used the 'used cae salesman' analogy as an expression of his trustworthiness. to me, he comes off more like a time share or life insurance salesman.

that leaves me with Edwards or Kerry and i'm pretty happy with the choices.

Lyndon LaRouche is a Democrat?!? Are they sure? I thought he was Libertarian. Isn't this the guy who is worried about space aliens taking over the government?

I also can't imagine what I agree with Chimpy about 8% of the time.

17. Most agreed. Defeating * is The Prime Directive.
Edited on Fri Jul-11-03 03:05 PM by Buns_of_Fire
Sure, I have my preferences. But when the rubber ultimately meets the road, I'll vote for the one with a (D) after their name -- be it any of the nine we already know of, or Clark, or Beelzebub. Priority One is sending * back to Crawdad to clear brush. The differing points can be hashed out later.

On edit: Yes, I took the survey. And, FWIW, I tended to agree with:
(1) Kucinich -- 99%
(2) Dean -- 97%
(3) Sharpton -- 87%
(4) Kerry -- 82%
(5) Lieberman -- 73%

In reality, my preferred candidates, in no particular order, are Dean, Kerry, Edwards and Kucinich. I rate Holy Joe and Gephardt in the "Only if it's between them and Bush" category.

But if you take the issues into account. Dennis K matches up the most.
Too bad everyone is already bought and sold into that 'electability' BS. We could actually have a noncorporate voice for the people in office.

oh well, that's McAmerica for you.
