Is anybody watching the Vicente Fox/Bush press conference?
Vicente (who speaks English better than the chimp) is giving the PC in Spanish. The funny part is......... Chimpy is standing there shaking his head at him, just like he had a freakin' clue what Vicente is saying.

It's just about hilarious.

7. What bush just said
Edited on Mon Jan-12-04 03:35 PM by nu_duer
Don't know what Fox was saying, but it was a long, semmingly indepth answer, and when he finished, bush looked at him and said: "Mr. President, you've just articulated that in a way in which I never could" (loose quote, but very close). Hillarious.

18. Bush Does Speak Spanish
According to Mexican reporters his Spanish is somewhat halting and he doesn't always get the pronunciation right (kind of like his English) but he speaks well enough to carry on a conversation in Spanish and generally understands what is being said. So he probably did understand most of what Fox was saying.

Edited on Mon Jan-12-04 03:44 PM by buycitgo
"The fact is, NAFTA has lifted lives"

question:

is it true that you started planning Iraq invasion, and did ONeill betray you?

answer: first of all let me tell you that I appreciate his service. September 11 changed MY view of the world. stated policy of my admin was very clear......regime change.

babbling now....."solemn duty to protect"......the world is better for it, American People are better for it, Iraq is better for it, Mexico is better for it!

Mexico is SO much better for Saddam to be gone, isn't it?

32. too bad it places them in yet another box
it admits they were doing serious planning (including apparently divvying up oil... but yet they could never bother with contigency planning for post war... and they were planning and plotting for two years?).... couches it as "Clinton Policy" (haha since he spent three years trying to run the opposite direction from anything attributed to Clinton)...

If that is the case.... then why all the buildup about the immenent threat? Why all the implications about Alqaeda? Then why all the known false intelligence data presented to the US and the UN to try to "sell the policy". Why not just declare it as continuing the same policy. Except to the most die-hard bush believers - this answer won't sit well with folks for long.

Further more, if that was the case, and if they knew it from the beginning (he claims "this was always the case" - suggesting it was the case in the campaign)... was he then LYING to the American people during the campaign about No Nation Building? About not using US Servicefolks to police the world? Then why didn't he campaign on this issue - if it was so justified... why didn't he tell the people... vote for me and I will declare war on Iraq so we can get rid of Saddam once and for all.

Oh - he couldn't do that politically.

Bush just backed himself further into the corner by using a completely illogical - but short term handy (as in... on the surface it sounds good) excuse. A true sign of the intellectually lazy or the intellectually challenged (that they don't recognize the implications and couch them into the first explanation rather than digging a deeper hole.)

27. Here's the cleaned up transcript.
Reading this cannot capture the hemming and hawing and fumbling and bumbling. But it does show the direct question about O'Neil being circled and ran around and definitely not answered.

>
Q: President Bush, is it true, as your former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill says, that you started planning for the invasion of Iraq within days of your inauguration? Do you feel betrayed? And should he have released those documents?

BUSH: First, let me say I appreciate former Secretary O'Neill's service to our country. We worked together during some difficult times. We worked together when the country was in recession. And now we're coming out of recession, which is positive news.

We worked together when America was attacked on September the 11th, which changed how I view the world. September the 11th made me realize that America was no longer protected by oceans and we had to take threats very seriously, no matter where they may be materializing and that the stated policy of my administration towards Saddam Hussein was very clear.

Like the previous administration, we were for regime change. And in the initial stage of the administration, as you might remember, we were dealing with Desert Badger or fly-overs and fly-betweens and looks. And so we were fashioning policy along those lines. And then all of a sudden, September the 11th hit.<

I think it's time the 911 Commission is forced to subpoena the PDB and see why they say nothing of warnings. All of a sudden, my ASS.

Edited on Mon Jan-12-04 06:44 PM by Marianne
I am sick of these photo ops and these made up so called press conferences. I am sick of the entire play acting of this stupid man. I have had it. He is sick, delusional, an idiot, and does not know what he or anyone else in his regime, is doing. He is truly an ignoramus and a jerk and I am sick of seeing these faked up photo ops of an obviously deluded man who is full of himself for no reasons and his frump-o-lump Texas princess, pretending they are in charge of something here in this United States of America.

This is absurd. Bush is in charge of NOTHING. Why? Because he is too stupid and uninformed an too lazy and spoiled a little boy Dauphine.

I agree wholeheartedly..As soon as I saw the jerk playing with the earpiece in the beginning and then smiling at whoever was in front, it was over for me. He's a disgrace..wouldn't surprise me IF Fox told the audience that the chimp's drugged/drunk and hasn't a clue, and that he'd agree to whatever he says..
