10. his family
O"Neill has 3 daughters....1 son and 12 grandchildren....he may have been warned to recant his statements....with just the amount of grand kids to worry about..that may be why he has slightly backed off...

you notice..they are not denying that the papers were true or not...the blowback is the charge that they were "top Secret"....and this is what is being rammed down the publics throat.....
as WE know..every paper bush has in the WH..he thinks is secret....perhaps even the shit paper he uses!!!!

4. There is not one doubt in my mind that O'Neill was threatened
These are ruthless thugs we are talking about here, as bad as Mussolini's fascists and probably as bad as the Nazis (though I know people here hate the comparison). They've killed thousands of innocent civilians and hundreds of our own soldiers for no better reasan than to line their own pockets. Why should they care, for even one second, about threatening an old man and his family? Why does that seem so hard to believe?

6. I don't mind Nazi comparisons at all.
Anybody who has read about the Nazi power grab can see the obvious parallels between them and the WH gang.

5. The rapid turn around
and back tracking makes it obvious to anyone but a blind man (can we all say George Bush?) that he's scared to death.

It's a damn shame.

9. We should all be worried about this sort of thing.
When Lesley Stahl asked Paul O'Neill if he wasn't worried about the reaction of the Bush people toward him, O'Neill responded, "Why? I'm old and I'm rich; what can they do to me?"

Apparently, he has since been alerted to the fact that they might "make him an offer he couldn't refuse"!

Sunday, O'Neill was calm and not worried; today he is backpedaling and retracting.

What happened to him in the interval?

We should all be worried about this sort of thing.

This is not funny.

Write to the media people and ask them if anything O'Neill said was untrue.

The media's focus should be on O'Neill's allegations about Bush. Was Bush misleading the American people when he said his second round of tax cuts would help the middle class when he already knew that was a lie?

11. Howcome he did not recognize that before?
Edited on Tue Jan-13-04 07:54 PM by Marianne
Surely he is aware of it by now. And was aware of it when he gave up those CD's to Suskind.

It really should be Suskind we need to concentrate upon and support. He was the one who put it all together and who does have all those 19,000 documents .

If I were either one, I would state uneqivocally right now that I am NOT depressed and I am NOT considering, nor would I ever consider, committing suicide.

Bush is a killer--he would not think twice about putting out the kill order on these two who have "embarrassed " him . There is a lot riding on this idiot Bush. There are millions of dollars behing him and people who have contributed those millions expecting their due from him and his administration. If he does not cater to them he is toast and if he does cater to them, the country is toast forcing him to admit that his policies stink--which he never will.

I would hope that at least some of this sticks and I would hope that more is added before the 2004 election==and that what is added will force this insane, idiot of man out of our white house.

Does O'Neill have grandchildren? A wife?

A threat to their lives would explain this turnaround. I can think of nothing else. I do not think that O'Neill would fear for himself, but I do think that if he has grandchildren or a wife and they were threatened by the Bush evil empire, then he would, certainly, back down. But why he was not aware of this to begin with is beyond me.

12. Nor would the little dictator think twice
Edited on Tue Jan-13-04 07:54 PM by notsodumbhillbilly
about putting out an order to harm O'Neill's family. Maybe O'Neill wasn't thinking of that when he made his "what can they do to me" remark.

13. I guess O'Neill thought this was still the United States of America.
He remembered this country the way it once was.
