CNN poll: Americans like Bush's qualities
(CNN) -- Two-thirds of Americans think President Bush has the right personal qualities for the presidency, yet nearly half or more think the Democratic Party would do a better job on major domestic issues, according to a new poll.

A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released Tuesday interviewed 1,003 adult Americans last weekend on Bush and national issues ranging from the environment to security.

1. They wouldn't if they knew what his "qualities" really are
His qualities are:
deceit
dishonesty
cronyism
arrogance
entitlement
vengefulness
intolerance

2. I heard the strangest thing on a local RW talk show last week.
A soldier from a local base called in and stated that he disagreed with EVERYTHING George Bush had done, especially his immigration proposal. But then the man said he totally believed that Bush was the best man for the job and that he loved him as President (or something to that effect)! He kept repeating these contradictory statements over and over and all I could think of was that he had been brainwashed.

I do believe that the people running things have almost perfected the science of mind control and the art of manipulation. It's just terrifying.

11. Ah' Terribly sorry, Old Boy.
I had mistaken you for Professor Kraken Potz, neighborhood eccentric and general nuisance, living in a lighthouse just off the bend over there. He named that contraption Chitty Chitty something. I can't remember as his kids are annoying, and they sing that damn song too fast.

4. Proving once again...
...Americans don't vote issues, they vote narrative.

Narratives don't have to be factual to work, they just have to be true.

And since the press is consumed with crafting narratives rather than reporting, the phenomenon is self-perpetuating.

On the tombstone of American democracy will be the obituary "Died from a Story Arc."

5. I saw a poll from...
Punk Dobbs tonite about our government on the issues where 98 percent said the government does not concentrate on their important issues. DU probably already got this, but I am little confused as to how certain polls appear very pro and certain very against Smirk.

6. Laugh.............
"Bush qualities" an oxymoron if I ever heard one. Quality and Bush should never be mentioned in the same sentence.

8. How long will they push the lie that Americans think Bush has ANY
redeeming qualities. I don't even think the standard 30% that say they would vote for him think he has any redeeming qualities.

9. So Americans like stupidity in a president.
Interesting.
Maybe we should nominate...a sponge? It would be stupid (just like voters seem to prefer), we could tape a cross onto it (to make it seem religious), and it could just sit there and absorb whatever's thrown at it (like Bush). The perfect man (or household cleaning object) to defeat Bush!

12. SpongeBob SquarePants for President!
Wish I'd thought of it!

Not only is he a sponge, but he is entirely fictional!

13. American choice
My faith in the public is rapidly diminishing. They aren't thinking about the connections between having a president who can think his way out of a paper bag and sound decisions that benefit people. I still remember arguments with people at work where they said that they just felt like they could sit down and talk to Bush (not likely unless they took jobs as waiters).

So Americans elect someone how is, generally, as stupid as them. How nice. So here we are with fewer jobs, multiple wars to get us killed in, lower taxes for some but many fewer services, and someone at the helm that people feel "they can talk to."

I say people deserve what they get. When unemployment reaches 50%, or all the jobs are for minimum wage, I'll remind them of these arguments. Maybe getting worse is what this country needs, to remind people that they have a job as citizens and have abandoned that job. Then again, maybe they'll just go on about how they are free...

17. why wouldn't they since
the majority of our democratic leadership and congressional members (with some exceptions) say nothing but what a swell guy he is.

If the democrats keep talking about how great he is, we will never get rid of him. This is war, people!

20. Nothing new here, polls were positive about Clinton too...
even if people disagree with a prez, they almost always say he has the "right qualities" of a prez, because he is, afterall, their president...

21. Come on! They polled 1,003 people! That is such a small number
it s ridiculous! That hardly counts for a large number in my town, let alone the country. That is a joke and CNN et.al should be ashamed of themselves.
