Please excuse my inability to spell Andrew Fastow's name, let me call him AF.
I just heard on Morning Addition that AF will be jailed for 10 years and fined $20 million. In the same breath the commentator explained that AF had pilfered $33 million from his dealings while at Enron. So I have to ask, what about the other $13 million? I know a whole lot of people who would happily go to jail for $1.3 million per year.
Am I misunderstanding this deal? Surely he would be required to liquidate all of his assetts to be turned over to the bankrupcy court in settlement of the Enron affairs IN ADDITION TO any fine (which of course could not be paid were the assets liquideated).
Can someone explain this one to me? I personally don't much care if his kids land on welfare and his sow ends up in jail, what has that got to do with him having defrauded thousands and thousands of investors?
