Bush deceit on Iraq exposed

Now we know. President Bush -- goaded by the political appointees in Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's office, aided and abetted by Secretary of State Colin Powell's willingness to sacrifice his credibility for the cause -- misled the American people and the Congress purposefully to win support for the war in Iraq.



And, as a stunning ad in the recent moveon.org contest put it, now young American men and women ''are dying for the truth.''

The lies were systematic and repeated as part of a relentless public relations campaign. We were told that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. We ''know where they are,'' attested Rumsfeld. We were told he was ''reconstituting his nuclear program,'' Vice President Dick Cheney avowed, as he and National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice and Rumsfeld and the president invoked the threat of a ''mushroom cloud'' over America. We were told that Iraq posed a direct threat to the United States because of its massive stores of chemical, biological and nuclear weapons. We were told that there was a ''sinister nexus between Iraq and al-Qaida,'' as Powell told the United Nations, in a speech he claimed to have personally verified.

Stunningly, all of it was a lie.

Well at least we have one dem who's not afraid to speak out. Where is everyone else?

Well, really, there are many editorialists out there who are still telling the truth. The problem is that they are being ignored. Krugman, Ivins, Moford -- these people are ringing the warning bells, but they are being ridiculed as unpatriotic and promptly ignored.

I really don't think that no one is talking about this, I just think that what comes out is being severly distorted and/or silenced by the mainstream media, who seem adamant to help the Unlearned One to drive this country right over the cliff. As long as CNN and FAUX 'news' are actinging as mouthpieces for the WH, there will be no public outrage over the insidious idiocy that has overtaken our republic, IMHO.

US Rep and Senate Dems meet almost daily with the press. How often (NOT) do we get reports of these press meetings?

There is no question that the so-called liberal media is not going to challenge Shrubby and hold him acountable for anything, unlike Clinton who was being held accountable by the liberal media for a 30 year old land deal if you can believe that!

Bill Clinton:

Had an affair in office = investigated

30 year old land deal = investigated

Employees fired from the travel office = investigated

George Bush:

Lied us into war and now 500 soldiers are dead = NOT INVESTIGATED

White House outs a CIA agent putting her life and many other lives on the line = NOT INVESTIGATED (at least not a "true" investigation)

Bush lied about the air quality in New York after 911 = NOT INVESTIGATED

911 and Bush covering up 911 = NOT INVESTIGATED
