1. At least the right never called Sen. Clinton "Hitlery"
'cause if they did they would be pretty hypocritical huh?

7. The comparison is inapt
As one article I came across put it, Bush* didn't build a network of death camps - only a detention camp at Guantanimo. And while both Hitler and Bush have a fondness for uniforms, to be fair Hitler at least served on active duty during wartime.

8. I don't think comparing feminists to Nazis is apt, either
which is, I believe, the point of this thread (that, and other comparisons from the right). But you didn't hear any self-righteous yapping from Hannity and the RNC over THAT.

he was SELECTED, APPOINTED, as chancellor of Germany as a compromise to keep him from winning the election

he was not elected

26. Not quite accurate....
Not quite, the NSDAP or National German workers Party had about 2.6% of the national vote in the late 20's. By the General Election of 32, the Nazi's achieved an electoral vote of 37.8 % or 230 of the 608 seats. Who lost? The Liberals and the Conservatives, but given that this was a parliamentary system.
By January of 33, Hitler was offered the chancellorship, constitutionally and legally by Hindenburg. He had managed to patch together a shaky coalition of the other left wing parties, and convinced Germany's remaining conservative groups ( elite agrarians etc.) that they were really not the perceived threat....Well, no one ever said conservatives were particularly intelligent.

coup d'etat, he got elected legally, more or less by accident.

I noticed far more condemning it than supporting it, and even those supporting did say it applied only to Dean's "demagoguery". Then there was this post from the guy who originally posted the image:

"Ummm...
Have you ever taken a look at DU?

This is kid stuff compared to even their light banter!

I don't represent George Bush or the Republican Party, or anyone else on FR. I'm just a guy who thinks Howard Dean's demagoguery is a lot like Hitler's.

Just take any speech from Howard Dean and replace "Republicans" with "jews" and you'll know what I'm talking about."

So aside from the interesting footnote that DU was mentioned, also he did take sole responsibility for it. So let's not start hyperventilating just yet.

16. Why not just tell them...
Ok, if you don't like it, why not just stop torturing political prisoners, shut down the concentration camps in Cuba and Iraq, stop disappearing American citizens into the night and fog of lawless detention, end the cover-up of what really led to 911, and end the policy of unprovoked aggressive war?

Oh, and by the way, stop using the Big Lie technique every time you open your mouth!

22. Check out this Clark blog entry....
http://www.forclark.com/comments/2004/1/5/122053/1922/234#234

::snip::

Personally, I find Dean's campaign and methods much more "Hitler like" than anything I have seen the Repubs do so far. That may change, but the volume of extremist rhetoric coming from the radical left is certainly as great and as dangerous as that coming from the far right at the moment.

31. It was Turd Blossom Rove who first compared Bush to Hitler.
From Bob Woodward's book about Bush:
"The president emerged wearing a New York Fire Department windbreaker. He raised his arm and gave a thumbs-up to the crowd on the third base side of the field. Probably 15,000 fans threw their arms in the air imitating the motion.

He then threw a strike from the rubber, and the stadium erupted. Watching from owner George Steinbrenner’s box, Karl Rove thought, It’s like being at a Nazi rally." (p. 277)

The failure of the democratic party to point this out really annoys but does not surprise me.
