CT's Rowland sends in his Rove
Connecticut's own version of Karl Rove, David Boomer, is now at it investigating top state Democratic lawmakers... of course, Boomer is acting on his own accord, free of charge. (you have to register for free to read the whole article...)

GOP Operative Digs Into Democrats' Backgrounds
January 15, 2004
By JON LENDER, Courant Staff Writer

As Gov. John G. Rowland was warning legislators last week that the investigations into his conduct could lead to increased scrutiny of their actions, a top Republican operative was doing a little scrutinizing of his own.

David Boomer, a longtime Rowland aide who was hired by the state Republican Party to help the governor fight for his job, researched several years of financial disclosure documents filed by three high-ranking Democrats at the forefront of the legislature's move to investigate and possibly impeach Rowland.

Wednesday, Rowland's office and the GOP state chairman disavowed Boomer's action. Boomer said he dug up the files on his own time and has no intention of using them.

But two of the Democrats targeted by Boomer said they doubt he acted alone.

1. NBC30 in Hartford said CT RNC is responsible
This is just disgusting. How low can these people go. This is so wrong for so many reasons. Is this not blackmail? I can't wait to listen to our liberal talk radio guys at 3:00 today. Colin and Bruce are going to go nuts on this one. Big points to Chris Shays (CT-R) who not only called for Rowland to resign but also had very harsh words for the CT RNC chairman, saying his job is not to defend Rowland, it is to work for all the repugs.

4. Shays
He has been a fairly moderate Republican, a tradition from his very wealthy district - following in the footsteps of the late Stu McKinney.

Yeah, he did it out of the goodness of his heart. Oh, please, Boomer -- since when has a rebubbalican operative done anything without expecting a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? :eyes:

5. Who has the picture
Who has the picture of the Republican Campaign operatives and congressional staff members that led the spontaneous stop the Florida recount efforts. They were working with no direction of the campaign and on a pro-bono basis.
