Police accused the pilot of showing contempt to authorities, a crime in Brazil.

The prosecutor said Hersh could have faced charges punishable by up to two years in jail.

Enjoy the irony - we're happy to heap contempt on Shrub & Co., but then applaud when someone faces serious jail time overseas for doing the same thing to an overseas government.

Can't say I agree with the 'anti-flipping off' law in either country, but it's hardly unusual.

Maybe some of the Repuke pilots will wake up and see that *'s efforts has led to most of this discourse. And for those of you who do not regularly travel overseas there is a tendency to harrass crews. I had a clip in my hair going through security in London, our security is behind the scene but the same as every passenger and it set off the monitor, while certain ethnic personnel with head scarves are able to get wanded they subjected me to physical search including a hand that went up my skirt. I complained and the security dierctor informed us that if I reported this to operations and our company that they would impound the aircraft. I decided that I was going to report it and they called the police and were going to have me removed from the flight and let the aircraft go but the Captain finally stepped forward and declared that the entire crew would file a complaint and he refused to take the aircraft without his entire crew. They allowed me to file complaint but it was not filed in London, it was filed in New York. These custom people can be complete assholes and it is a direct result about how they feel about the US. I'm glad that American is standing behind there employee.
