Revelations: 9/11 Commission officials gave evidence to own inquiry
Whitewash': 9/11 Commission Rocked by Bizarre Revelations That Commission Officials Gave Evidence to Own Inquiry

http://www.commondreams.org/headlines04/0115-11.htm

WASHINGTON, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- The panel set up to investigate why the United States failed to prevent the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, was rocked Thursday by the bizarre revelation that two of its senior officials were so closely involved in the events they are investigating that they have had to be interviewed as part of the inquiry.

Philip Zelikow, the commission's executive director, worked on the Bush-Cheney transition team as the new administration took power, advising his longtime associate and former boss, national security adviser Condoleezza Rice, on the structure of the incoming National Security Council.
"He came forward in case he might have useful information," said commission spokesman Al Felzenberg.

Zelikow, who the commission says has withdrawn himself from those parts of its investigation directly connected with the transition -- a process known as recusal -- was also appointed to the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board in October 2001.

1. again...no media to investigate this travesty, but day one they turn on
O'Neill for documenting going into Iraq....and the reason why we are there is 911 (war on terror - even though nothing to do with it)

So..should we investigate 911...nope....shrub wants NO truth to come out.

2. Nothing to be seen here
As Mrs Gorelick, one of the two, pointed out, if you want to have people with experience in national security issues, you must accept that they were naturally involved somewhere in the policy making process that is under scrutiny here.

So why let not Tenet or Rice investigate the matter?

Common Dreams does sometimes just link to the front page of its sources, but this goes right to the article.

Many juicy morsels in here - make mine MIHOP.

====

Zelikow (...snip...) has had a longstanding relationship with Rice, who hired him to work for her when she was a White House official in the first Bush administration. The two have written a book together.

More recently, some relatives have accused him of being in touch with White House political supreme Karl Rove -- the man widely believed to be the most powerful figure in the administration.

Zelikow was not available to answer questions Thursday, but Felzenberg did not deny the allegation.

"He has not spoken with Karl Rove about commission business," he said. "Like many others on the commission, he has a job he hopes to go back to afterwards. The Miller Center is dedicated to the study of the presidency, and (Zelikow) has contacts with a wide range of people from all recent administrations."

6. I want these questions answered posted on their(our) site:
http://www.9-11commission.gov/hearings/hearing1/witness_kleinberg.htm

"Why these aberrant trades were not discovered prior to 9/11? Who were the individuals who placed these trades? Have they been investigated? Who was responsible for monitoring these activities? Have those individuals been held responsible for their inaction?"

"Why was there a delay in the FAA notifying NORAD? Why was there a delay in NORAD scrambling fighter jets? How is this possible when NEADS was fully staffed with planes at the ready and monitoring our Northeast airspace?"

"How is it possible that the National Military Command Center, located in the Pentagon and in contact with law enforcement and air traffic controllers from 8:46 a.m. did not communicate to the Secretary of Defense also at the Pentagon about the other hijacked planes especially the one headed to Washington? How is that Secretary of Defense could have remained at this desk until the crash? Whose responsibility is it to relay emergency situations to him? Is he then supposed to go to the war room? "

"Yet President Bush was allowed to enter a classroom full of young children and listen to the students read.

Why didn't the Secret Service inform him of this national emergency? When is a President supposed to be notified of everything the agencies know? Why was the President permitted by the Secret Service to remain in the Sarasota elementary school? Was this Secret Service protocol?"

9. This is the first I have heard of this.
and it is appalling. THEY HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE apparently. First Kissinger, then shipping Cleland off, now this. The reason this guy is on the commission is to tip the administration if the panel gets close to the smoking gun. What other possible reason is there?
These people are making my blood boil.
