this doesn't seem fair to me. It would give Utah more delegates from Rhode Island, or Vermont the same amount as Wyoming.

1. by registered democrats, I think
seems to me Texas didn't have too many delegates, even though it's quite populous.

2. even that's not really fair though
due to Dixiecrats, the folks who haven't supported a Democrat for president since Jimmy Carter (and in some cases, LBJ)

also not all states have party registration. Here in Minnesota we don't.

I think the most fair proportionment would be amount of voters in the last primary.

3. No.
They are also weighted on how Democratic the state votes.
See http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P04/D-Alloc.phtml for the formulas/details and http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P04/D-Del.phtml for the actual counts.

6. Thanks, but I sort of cheated.
Someone asked about the nomination process before, and I tried to look up details, and so I had the window still open when it came up.

4. No
It is a relatively complex formula that takes into account whether or not the state has voted for the Democratic nominee during the last several election cycles, the number of Democratic officeholders, the state's population. and several other factors.

It is designed to give more delegate strength to heavily Democratic areas, as it should be.
