On the other hand ML King is probably the greatest figure in 20th century American history.

Maybe some day we'll do without money, but in the meantime I wouldn't mind inflicting a bit of cognitive dissonance on those who, while drooling over their wad of bills, are forced to contemplate King's image. USA. Enough is enough. I also object to naming stuff for Reagan and will say that JFK has too many namesakes as well.

Perhaps they don't but the living do. There will be a face on money, that's a given. The questions becomes not whether, but whose face it will be. I think MLK is a far better choice than Jackson ever was.

16. The irony of Jackson even being on the $20 Bill

is that he fought tooth and nail to destroy the US National Bank on ideological grounds and finally succeeded in vetoing its recharter in 1832! Sort of like the irony of naming an airport after Ronald Reagan, if you ask me. I'd gladly have Jackson off the currency and MLK would be an excellent replacement- though I suspect the chance of that happening in my lifetime is about the same as having a colony on the moon.
