Where are the SOTU overnight polls?

Am I just getting old and having delusions but I thought that the major news networks had second by second polling of people's response to the SOTU speech that used to be available immediately after the speech. As of this moment, I can't find any mention to these "focus groups" who dial up and dial down throughout the SOTU speech giving their feelings about the topic of the moment.

I guess this sounds like a giant conspiracy theory, but what gives? Did the networks suddenly stop doing focus groups for the speech? Are they under "orders" from Rove and Card to keep pretending the boy king has clothes?

4. One website (CNN?) was running an online SOTU poll

this AM, and suddenly it dissapeared and was replaced with a negatively worded poll about Dean.

5. Here's one, but the sample was weighted heavily towards republicans.

The weighting was due to the percentages of republicans, democrats and independents who actually watched the speech.

PRINCETON, NJ -- An instant-reaction poll of State of the Union speech watchers last night, the plurality of whom were Republicans, found President George W. Bush receiving high marks for his address, although his ratings are lower than last year. The speech appears to have persuaded some viewers to view the president more positively on several issues, compared to what they felt in a pre-speech survey, especially on healthcare and Social Security. But the speech appears to have had little effect on viewers' voting intentions next November. And Bush's overall policy rating, about the same as last year, is much lower than what he received after his first two State of the Union speeches and lower than what President Bill Clinton received in his first-term speeches.

6. Why have CNN and USA Today "buried" this poll?

Is it significant that CNN and USA Today, who both co-sponsored this Gallup focus group, haven't posted this story on their sites? I notice that Gallup shys away from calling this a scientific poll and uses the language "plurality of .. Republicans" to cover up that they couldn't get a scientifically qualified sample. I read this as actually good news that even when the focus group is skewed Republican that the chimp's positives are all down from last year.

7. It seemed like an odd poll to me.

And it is odd that it hasn't been reported more extensively. Maybe it will be in the paper on Thursday. I agree that the numbers were not impressive for Bush.

8. Almost twice as many Republicans watched the speech as Democrats.

Which makes the results meaningless, could be why the results weren't widely distributed.

What is really interesting is that so few Democrats watched, that could only mean that he doesn't have a prayer for their votes.
