Neo-Conservatism or how I learned to stop worrying and love the Republican
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 07:11 PM by youngred
"I really believe that the pagans and the abortionists and feminists and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, The People for the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America, I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped make this happen'"
-Jerry Falwell on the September 11th Attacks

"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is that he did not go to the New York Times building"
-Ann Coulter

"James Carville, for Example. Paul Begala... you want to strangle them. You want to kill them."
-Lucianne Goldberg

"If you don't hate Clinton and the people who laboured to keep him in office, you don't love your country"
-Ann Coulter

-THE AMERICAN DREAM:A LIBERAL FLEEING THE COUNTRY WITH AN ILLEGAL ALIEN UNDER EACH ARM.
-Save the whales: Club the liberals
-2 examples of bumperstickers available at conservative websites

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is not the party of Lincoln. This is not the party of Teddy Roosevelt. This is an entirely new entity. THIS Republican party is at war and its manifesto is Ms. Coulter's Treason. These people claim free speech, free expression, they claim this nation's flag and its founding tennants as their own while at the same time professing hatred, death destruction and blame on anyone who disagrees with them.

For the last thirty years the republican party has been in engaged in a steady reactionary movement to turn back the clock. These people long for the days or the 50s, or in the case of Ms. Coulter the 19th Century (when asked if she would still roll it back that far even if it meant the removal of a woman's right to vote she said yes). This is a historical reaction to the 1960s. They despise the legacy of John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr. and Earl Warren. They see civil rights, equality for all, economic justice, freedom of thought and peace as a threat.

These people are not out to work within the system, they want to change the system. These people are not out to create a better United States, the are out to create a more perfect fasicsm. THEY WANT OUR BLOOD. Don't believe me? read this from last year:

"We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed too."
-Ann Coulter

For this comment Coulter was commended by many columnists, pundits, politicians and leaders on the right. Call her the radical fringe, a crazed lunatic or a attention-needy person and you'd be right, but there is a segment of the population that agrees with her and truly does see liberals as the greatest threat to this nation.

Where does this hate come from? What great crime have we all commited? we have chosen in our conscience, thoughts, and way of life a set of beliefs that are different from them. We chose to exercise the freedoms that this nation holds so dear, and that they profess to hold as well.

This is a war, not of our making, but theirs. Unless we wake up and fight it in the streets, in the papers, and on our television sets. Wake up and fight them at the ballot box, in the coffee shops and bars. Wake up and fight them with every tool at your disposal, because in this battle they offer no quarter, no forgiveness and no peace. They will not rest until this nation firmly rests under the cowboy boots of Neo-Conservatism.

We need to band together now, or all is lost.

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me--
and there was no one left to speak out for me."

2. I could not imagine Ford, Nixon or Eisenhower supporting this nonsense...
in addition to Lincoln & T. Roosevelt...

Bush's media surrogates are shameful and give the good conservatives a bad name...

18. There is nothing wrong with conservatism
its rabid neo-cons that are the problem.

You're right, Ford, Nixon and Eisenhower wouldn't have either

3. It really is not about Democrats and Republicans any more

I don't know if that is what you intended to say, but it is what your post illustrates very well.

The situation has gone beyond superficial differences in "positions on issues," cosmetic changes in "policies."

While politics may not be about issues, and while the goal of "winning" the election may be to put a Democratic face on PNAC, give everything a nice coat of metrosexual, positive upbeat new paint, none of that is relevant to the reality of the clear and present threat to national security that we face now.

Not from "terrorists," but to be blunt, a threat to continued national sovereignty, as the feudalists continue to establish the United States as the number one threat to world security.

6. yes these people just want to get rid of any one who has
ever had anything resembling a thought. I actually gasped when I read that McVeigh/ NYT building quote. That woman is certifiable! And why does anyone pay attention to her?

5. if bush is allowed to stay in office
we won't recognize this country by the time he gets through with it.

it's crazier than buchanan's "culture wars" rhetoric. these people are not only crazy, but they're dangerous.

i'm with the previous post-er, though. if they push me, i'm gonna hit back. and i'm gonna hit back a whole lot harder than they pushed.

We Are the Majority

"It is very clear that these people have put their own greed ahead of the middle class
and working families of this country. What they are now doing is living in guarded
compounds. They don't have to get on the airlines like you do. They fly in their Lear
jets. They don't get on crowded mass transit to get to work. They don't have to worry
about how their kids are going to go to college or high school because they have the
money to send their kids to the best private schools in America; they have enough
money to buy their way to get their kids into any college in America. That's how they
live--separate and segregated from what's going on in this country. And our job is to
tell them that if they don't come back to America, then the hell with them. We'll go
forward without them. "
snip

"We know, that come election time, they will have huge sums of money that we will
never come near to having. But we also know something else: that we are the vast
majority of the people. We are the middle class and working families, and there are a
hell of a lot more of us than there are of them. "

15. I agree we are the majority
but too many are blinded, lulled or too busy infighting to concern ourselves with the broader threat.

We need to realize the things that article is talking about

17. It is your duty
and mine, ours to send that article to as many like minded people, and for them to send it also.
Get everyone on the same track again, focused on the majority and that power.

or else we can quibble and gut each other in gd04.

for that's what the enemy wants.

13. Excellent thread, Zack.
I could not agree more. Perhaps what most of us need is a rather large wake up call to the increasingly vicious neo-conservatives. Before long, too many of these real radical Republicans will become the norm... though sometimes it seems like they are already. Nice, short and sweet piece. Great job.
