Washington-AP -- A congressional probe finds that the company that makes OxyContin sent doctors promotional videos that downplayed the addictive painkiller's risks.
The General Accounting Office reports federal health officials say a 1998 Purdue Pharma video seemed "to make unsubstantiated claims." That video was never submitted for government review -- a failure the company blames on a slip-up.
The Food and Drug Administration says the video -- "minimized the risks associated with the drug."
