email to Chris Mathews regarding Dean clip
Re: you and the Dean clip

How many times are you going to show that thing? You, Chris Matthews,
have a really strange sense of priorities. Dean showed a little
passion. Didn't seem like anger to me, but if it was so what? American
citizens have a perfect right to be angry about what the Bush
administration is doing to this country. And in case you didn't notice,
they're are a lot of important issues facing the country right now. And
yet you devote three shows in a row to rehashing one little video clip.
You must have shown the clip 50 times already. Get a grip Christopher.
You're coming across as a whore with an unhealthy obsession. Perhaps
you should seek professional help.

1. I'm not even in the room w/ the TV and I've heard it 3 times.
This is Chris' way of trying to bury Dean. He won't stop until the last shovel of dirt is thrown in. I know it by heart hardball@msnbc.com

2. Matthews Is Completely Off The Deep End...
He's simply trying to kill Dean's candidacy...Nother else could explain what he's doing. At the same time, he's showing Kerry in uniform and trying to boost him.

My hope is that rational Americans will see that what the media is doing to Dean is totally uncalled for and excessive and reject the message it is sending...

12. The whole thing was so weird
There was what amounted to a campaign commercial for Kerry with pictures showing him as a boy, then in uniform, then as a Senator, with a flag and on and on. I waited to see if the other candidates would be shown like this, but none were! The whole show appeared to be set up to boost Kerry. All I could think was, this is very strange.

4. Nice!
I saw Dean's speech but through closed captioning because I was in a studio at the time. I will say this, I saw a man with passion and fire. I heard his words later, but didn't hear the yeeeaahhhh or whatever until the next day when Randi Rhodes played it every 5 minutes over and over again. It has gotten quite annoying all around.
As I said above, I saw a man who was passionate about what he's trying to do. I saw a man who was trying to keep his volunteers, supporters and staff fired up. As for the yelp...enough is enough.

5. He's also attacking Clark, too
As I said in another post, no one watches "Hardball" or gives an RA what Matthews thinks.

6. Never thought I'd ever say this.
But I don't blame Matthews at all. Dean's speech sounded more like it should have been part of a world wrestling federation stunt than a presidential campaign. It may have been a hopeful and inspiring message for the people who already love him and support him, his speech wasn't going to bait anyone new in. I really think it did him more harm than good in the eyes of the general public.

8. You're kidding, right?
I saw it and thought it was totally unremarkable. sheesh! People are making a mountain out of a molehill here.

OTOH. . . .I was watching the News Hour tonight, and at the end Lehrer announced the regular honor roll for American service people killed in Iraq, saying, "...and here in silence are eleven more.

ELEVEN more. I thought I'd put my fist thru the TV. Where is the outrage???? People are obsessing on and on and on and on... about whether Dean was too angry and our soldiers keep on dying.

This country is so fucked up...

16. Can't win
Matthews criticized Gore for being too stiff and unemotional. Now he criticises Dean for being passionate. Liberals will never come out ahead with Tweety. I emailed him this message.

7. I heard it 3 times in 10 minutes...
I didn't hear any of the rest of the speech, just the sentence leading up to the yell...
Our media is obsesive compulsive.

9. Believe it or not...
I had yet to see the clip. Just went to washingtonpost.com & found it. Granted he went overboard, but I think it sounds worse predominantly because he's hoarse --- kinda WWF-like. I wish he had toned it down and spent more time early talking about Gephardt (should take notes from Sen Edwards on that point), but what is all the fuss?

11. The more times I see the clip
the less weird it looks (and I am a Kucinich supporter).

Actually, the last time I saw it, I started thinking about how Wellstone could get so worked up and start shouting and hopping all over the stage. I always enjoyed that - it worked for Wellstone - and it never failied to rouse the crowd. Maybe it didn't work for Dean because it hasn't been his standard speaking method.

Whatever, I've thought all along they were making way too big a deal of it.

13. Tweety is merely performing his duty to God and Empire
God, naturally, being a Bushevik, tht is.

God told Chris that modern marketing studies show the Imperial Subjects of Amerika have become incredibly inured to psychomanipulative tactics. God told him (or perhaps God told Karl Rove, who told Tweety) that, to be effective today, propaganda must be repeated at least 50 times, and that the ususal 12 wasn;t going to do it.

Tweety complied.

Disgusting. Orwell was right. Bradbury was right. Huxley was right.

14. Somebody should point out that Tweety shouts all of the time...
There does seem to be a propaganda campaign against Dean.

15. Between CNN and Tweety
I think I saw that same clip 50 times yesterday -- and always within the same context, "Is Dean Finished?" Oh, there were the occasional clips of the Miserable Failure hawking ribs in Roswell, but most of them were having multiple orgasms ooooohing and aaaaahing about Dean's "horrible miscalculation."

I finally turned it all off. Enough red meat for one day. :eyes:
