Inside the Debate

Thursday, January 22, 2004; 11:47 PM

-snip-

As footage of Howard and Judy Dean with Diane Sawyer played on a set behind him, Clark began fielding questions from Fox News reporter Carl Cameron. Cameron picked up on a debate question from his colleague Hume, about why the retired general had stood there as liberal activist Michael Moore called President Bush "a deserter."

"General, why not repudiate Michael Moore's comments?" Cameron said.

"Michael Moore has the right to say what he wants," Clark said, as he had in the debate.

"That wasn't the question, sir."

"I'm not going to take a position on the matter," Clark insisted.

"So your supporters can say whatever they want?" Cameron shot back.

An aide said the debate had ended earlier, and the questioning moved on.

1. And Lieberman was handing out flyers
attacking Clark, as reported by Kurtz.

I'm shocked, just shocked!

2. "So your supporters can say whatever they want?"
Yes dickface, as a matter of fact they can.

I mean...does Cameron think that question has more than one possible answer or something?

4. "yes, dickface....."
I love it. How I wish the candidates would just talk like that -- like most of us talk -- when oafish right-wing "journalists" are harping on a point.

this is my dream:
Sean Hannity: "So you've got to admit that Dean had a melt-down."
Any candidate: "No, you stupid fuckhead, I do not have to admit anythng on Dean's behalf."

5. Clark supports free speech? He must be stopped!
We need someone like Bush who doesn't believe in freedom!

Right wingers hate freedom, so they won't vote for a candidate who believes in it.

Maybe Lieberman is the best choice. Isn't he against freedom of speech as well?

7. This is the same Carl Cameron... who fronted the 911 israeli spy doco
http://www.911-strike.com/fox2.htm

Who fronted the first (last and only so far) investigation into 911... Maybe this is his way of pulling our tits.

I have just been reading the NYT coverage (& threads) of the same question in which it is suggested that the republicans may try to exploit this issue.

For the life of me I can't see how this would be possible. The record is more than clear.... sockboy went AWOL, quite possibly because he didn't want to fail a drug test.

I say bring it on..... exploit this one as much as possible.
