A conspiracy theory I believe
Posted at Slashdot:

"I have a theory that GW Bush is trying to be the worst President in US history by repeating every one of the worst mistakes of his predecessors:

* Watergate break in = Republicans spy on Democrats
* Vietnam = Iraq
* Reagan era deficits = Bush era deficits
* Hoover recession = Bush recession
* 1876 vote fraud = 2000 vote fraud
* Isolationism = Go it alone unilateralism
* Tea pot dome = Enron, Halliburton, Harken, etc.

Some day the lapdog republican news media will suddenly realise that Bush has sold them down the river along with the rest of the country."

1. I know George is basically a little under mediocre, but.....
I believe he is fully capable of meeting his goal of being the worst president in US history.

2. I'd say he's exceeding expectations.
Even I cannot understand why a college history major would not understand the legacy that he seems so intent on leaving on this country. How about his kids? Is he at all concerned about the country that they'll have to live in once he's done wrecking it?

Or is he being blackmailed? I really wonder.

Or maybe the spoiled election and an opposition that hates him really has affected his governance. Like maybe he's giving us a big "fuck you" payback. I think I saw that in his eyes in the SOTU the other night.

I guess if you can't be best, worst is always good if you want to leave a mark. :eyes:

5. IMO, he does not care about this country
He cares about his wealth, his family, his friends, his contributors. His flying his Saudi pals out of the country right after 9/11 told us all EXACTLY where his priorities are -- and they're not focused on the nation's well-being. His ass and his $$ are all that matter to him. And I think you're right about the big "fuck you." Over and over he's made a point of sticking a sharp stick in the eye of those who disagree with him. Some day he's going to lose it and let that nastiness come all the way through.

3. History is written by the victors - depends who wins...Bush or Democracy
and democracy is currently taking a beating...

What textbooks are kids using right now? What do they say? How do they portray events?...want history to reflect just how bad Bush is for the country? Make sure the rightwing isn't writing the history books...people can spout education is the key...but until they demand truth in teaching, kids will become adults who buy whatever bullshit is inside of textbooks written by rightwing conservatives...unless we take back the schools now!

Cause this country is headed toward rightwing domination of education.

7. You are sooo correct.
We got our taste of that with the Ronald Reagan treatment on TV. They are trying to mold history into their version of reality.....pretty scary.

9. You have hit upon one of the most crucial issues of our time
In my home town the right-wingers are talking about re-writing the school texts so as to help our students pass their tests. This is in fact one of the most disturbing trends in society today. Re-writing history to justify your positions. We are docilely allowing it to happen.

10. George knows exactly what he's doing
He's being a good little puppet while the people in the back rooms further their agenda.

  • destroy the "social safety net"
  • destroy the public school system
  • Reconstructionism
  • the American Empire
  • the Great Game (take over world oil resources)
  • permanently piss of the rest of the world so a permanent state of war exists

11. when?

"Some day the lapdog republican news media will uddenly realise that Bush has sold them down the river along with the rest of the country."

If more and more people hold them accountable, there is a chance --- but I wouldn't hold my breath on this happening anytime soon.
