One small, bright note today:
Nothing major. Nothing earthshaking. Just one conversation with one person.

I live in a republican stronghold. Big on the Bushes; adored Reagan. Big on aerospace and the defense industry. We built the space shuttles here. We built the B-1s and the B-2s. There is a pair of SR-71 Blackbirds parked down the road, in view from my house with binoculars. And an airforce base another 30 miles or so northeast of that.

I was talking to a neighbor today, and she told me that it was an imperative to remove Bush in 2004. That he had to go; that we couldn't survive another 4 years. That a rock would be better than GWB, because at least it couldn't talk. This from a woman who hosted campaign fundraisers for my neo-con republican state assembly person. She asked me about our choices to oppose him. She's ready to work for the democratic nominee, no matter who it is.

2. Geez, could she talk her party into doing something drastic?
My father, a Dem, lives in a very Baptist, very conservative small town in central Texas that is very Republican also. He said there four of them having dessert after church and all four declared they weren't voting for Bush. Usually, no one will talk like that out loud, especially since they think everyone else is voting for Bush.

I guess you are in CA? Keep promoting the good word: ABB!

I will keep promoting the good word. It's time to evict the pretender.

driver was an Ethopian Immigrant in his late 50's who had lived here about 15 years and spoke English beautifully. He started talking about politics and figured out that my husband didn't care for Bush, and he said, "Well, I'm for Dean because Bush is wrecking what I came to this country for!" My husband almost fell over.

I think when we start hearing stories like this from people all over and it doesn't matter which candidate they support but they know it has to be a Democrat because Bush is "wrecking the country" that's the best news we could have.

4. Happening here too
this is the most Republican part of Arkansas, and the Republicans are starting to tell me that they'll vote ABB, and some are even ready to work to get the Democratic candidate elected.

Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only ones seeing this happen.

8. I think many more people are upset with Bush
than we may realize. The economy, the war, the Patriot Act, the fascists, the Rightwing's obsession with marriage except if you're gay, etc. I can't think of too many things people would be happy about, except that there hasn't been another 911. I recently saw those Move On anti-Bush commercials and they were great! I hope the Dems come out with rhetorical guns blazing, because if they don't, the DLC or whomever makes these decisions deserves to be pummelled.(rhetorically of course!)

10. My sister lives in TN
She used to poo-poo all my liberal talk. After Iowa she called to see what I thought. She said the more she saw of the Dems, the better she liked them.

:hi:
I wish people would be willing to vote for the nominee, to be honest though I support Kerry/Kucinich equal now, the one i have the least issues with is Dennis but ya know what I could support any of these. If I can, I think anyone can, and believe me Ive been tempted to consider giong third party.

13. John, I think we will.
I think whoever we nominate will get our support. If our republican neighbors are willing to campaign for and vote for the democrat, regardless of who, just to bring the Bush administration to a close, we'll be there, too.
