Has the Bush* presidency "jumped the shark"?

I mean, it's been all down hill since the SOTU. I've never heard so many republicans come down on him until this past week.

I remember a similar moment in his father's presidency, when George Sr. didn't know the price of a loaf of bread, and was awe struck over a cash register scanner at a grocery store. Then there was that "magic" moment during the presidential debates when he kept looking at his watch.

Bush Jr.'s 2004 SOTU showed * as he really is -- a pampered, ill informed, out of touch, complete moron.

Particularly since a favorite mantra of the right wing has been, "Now we have an adult in the white house and things are getting taken care of." We'll see how adult President Bush comes off this year.

8. Someone needs to make an ad using that

phrase...and play it over and over and over again. Superimpose it over images of the war, poverty, people waiting in unemployment lines, empty factory buildings here-new companies elsewhere, schools with huge classrooms etc.

4. Maybe the tide is turning. They just interviewed Ed Schultz on the Today

Show. Slamming the republicans. I could hardly believe they had a "liberal" on and actually let him talk.

Maybe all the criticism of * by his fellow republicans will make the media reconsider their "3 year free pass". It may just be wishful thinking, but God, somebody on TV praising the democratic candidates????? Yesterday I would have said impossible.

Of course, Matt L. had to point out Ed was a liberal.

6. My mom lives in a conservative place, and they are turning on Bush

She told me that the Grand Rapids (MI) Press had lots of anti-Bush letters to the editor. It seems that hard times have hit the land of the chosen-Steelcase is laying off more, after having already laid off a bunch of workers, and Meijer is having some serious problems, partly due to the economy and partly due to unfair business practices committed by their competitor, Walmart. During the 80s, when the bottom fell out of the american auto business and cities like Detroit and Flint were devastated, GR stayed pretty strong, economically.

I am reasonably sure that Bush will not carry Michigan in November.

that they are grossly underestimating how angry people are. It never occurs to them that some of their own may actually be unhappy and will have enough integrity to act on their discontent.

Bush has little to spike his approval other than an Osama bin Laden capture. He is definitely beatable.

I'm guessing he drank a few longnecks and watched the end of "This Is Spinal Tap"...the "farewell" show where Derek St. Hubbins motions his ex-bandmate on stage with a nod of the head and a cry of "Nigel Tufnel, lead guitar," which is met with a thunderous roar of approval from the crowd.

Flash forward to Thanksgiving day, Baghdad, 2003, "dinner" at 5:30 am, multiple U.S. military personnel mumbling "why are we having dinner at 5:30 am?"

Suddenly, it becomes clear as the shark tank is brought into the dining hall. "We really need someone of higher authority here. I wonder if we have anyone of higher authority here? Oh, look, it's someone in a position of higher authority!"

"George W. Bush, LEAD GUITARRRRR...."

Zoom in on Dubya holding a meticulously garnished polyurethane bird. "Here ya go, our brave men and women in uniform. Take a break from your relentless war on terra and suck on this. Hold on...Say CHEESE!" Snap, snap, snap, smirk, smirk, smirk.

Hard to choose between this and the flight suit. He's the President who's sorta like a rock star, Rambo, and the Fonz all rolled into one. Bring It On!!!!!
