Poll question: If Kerry's the nominee, who should be his VP?

I didn't include Dean because I think most of us would agree that a ticket with two New Englanders wouldn't make much sense politically or geographically.

2. I think Graham would be good

if the nominee is either Kerry or Dean; will complement the ticket well. Not just a southerner, but an experieced and well-liked politician.

I said that to my boss the other day (he asked) and it took about 10 seconds for it to register and you could see the machinery in his head working to figure out what that meant, "WHAT?!?!?" was his response. RW'ers love to suppose that it is W's to lose, uh no the polls show differently-W has been losing to "Unnamed Democrat" for a while now.

I do not want to lose Edwards in the Senate. We have enough problems there being in the minority, and we don't want to lose one more.

In today's climate (war, terror, blah blah blah), that just might be "the ticket".

I think Edwards would work, too.

That being said, I haven't decided yet if Kerry should be the one yet.

13. I went other as a prediction.

Rather than pick who I think should be I went with a prediction. Edwards and Graham would work since both are retiring from the Senate anway -- I just love these people who want Kerry to be someone's VP or Secretary of State; just what we need is for a Democratic senator to retire allowing a Republican governor to appoint his successor.

But let's face it, how often does a defeated opponent join the victor's ticket? Bush joining Reagan is the only instance I recall of it having happened in my lifetime. That is all you ever hear on this board for VP speculation simply because that is who we see in the news all the time.

So my predication is that it will be some worthy individual working in the background right now. In fact, it SHOULD be some worthy individual working in the background since that is exactly what a Vice President does.

And, no, I have no prediction because I don't know anymore than most everybody else on this board. Former New Hampshire Governor Jeanne Shaheen may be positioning herself for that position with Kerry. Considering the current administration has a Texan giving geographical balance to a Texan and the prior had a Tennessean giving geographical balance to someone from Arkansas, the whole "geographical balance" meme is looking weak. In fact, people may feel more comfortable with two similar people providing the appearance of a solid team.
